Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Speaking of sequels, tickets for Deadpool 2 just went on sale.

Right now if you sign up at MoviePass instead of the regular unlimited option you get their bundle: 3 months of iHeartRadio plus 4 movies per month for $29.85 billed at once. According to MoviePass the unlimited option will return once the promotional program ends. They have repeatedly said on Twitter this will not effect existing customers. However, if 4 per month proves palatable this change is coming. It would still be a bargain for most people even if they end up limiting movies.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

4 movies for $9.95 is still a great deal. (paying up front is kind of lame) Problem is this is usually a harbinger of more changes to come. If they were smart they would offer tiered subscriptions since some people will probably only use it a few times while others will use it as often as possible. Of course they would grandfather those of us who already have it into the highest tier ;)

Movies should cost $2.50.

A pack of baseball cards should cost 25 cents.

Theaters don't make money on movies, anyways. It's all about the concessions.

Exactly. A movie is like a sporting event: bait to get people to sit in your giant aluminum canister for a few hours and buy your overpriced sh-t.

That isn't entirely true for most movies, but it is becoming the norm. Theaters get about 35% of the revenue for most films. That is changing. For major movies the studios demand up to 100% of the revenue for the first 15 days of release. This has been true for Star Wars and probably for Marvel. If the Fox deal goes through, Disney will have about 33% of the market and be able to squeeze theaters for more and more of the revenue.
In addition, MoviePass has forced some of the smaller chains to give a flat fee of up to $3 per ticket. That means if a customer buys a ticket to a new release with MoviePass it might actually cost the theater money.

I chatted with the manager of a local movie chain that I like to frequent a year or two ago on that very subject. She told be that they get between 25 and 35 cents of every ticket sold, with the rest going back to the distributors/producers/etc... I was shocked. She gets a quarter from me, whenever I go to the movie?

Before that conversation I was always one of those people who would privately grumble about the price of a bag of popcorn or a soda at the theater. Since then, I make it a point to buy something each trip. It's basically how they stay open.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Yeah depending on the theater (screw you AMC with your ridiculous popcorn prices) every time I use my Moviepass I try and buy a popcorn. I am still getting a heckuva deal (half the time I would buy popcorn anyways) and the theater gets all the profit.

I’m ridiculously excited for Fahrenheit 451 in may. Stars Michael b. Jordan on HBO

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

It looks like it has been updated for more modern times and filmmaking.

A lot of people are going to hate it for that reason alone. They’re going to hate it because it’s different. Like a remake of a song 40 years later.

anyone see chappy yet?

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

From the last couple weeks:

Life - how could a lineup like this have such a mediocre product?

Passengers - cookie cutter but still better than Life

Guardians of the Galaxy II - not as good as the original but still easily top half.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - It was pretty good. Seemed like it was more normal than other MCU movies.

Pitch Perfect 3:

What a steaming pile of pure sh*. I couldn't finish it. Loved the first one, thought the second one was pretty funny...this one......good God it's horrible.

There were maybe two or three good jokes in that entire movie. I saw it in the theater with my fiancée, and even she didn't like it despite being an a Capella singer herself. It might have been the movie for which she was most excited last year. Very disappointing.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Truth or Dare. Someone thought it would be a good idea to cast, produce, film, edit and distribute this dreck. Once again, I'm the only one here. Once again, I'm only here because it's free and I was too late to see anything else at the theater.

Meanwhile in LA they're watching the Infinity War premiere.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Spoilers for Infinity War are hitting the Internet and the source may not be one you expect. Forbes (FORBES!?) published an article - five hours before the review embargo lifted - that listed every single spoiler from the movie.

You don't **** with the Mouse House. I doubt that anyone credentialed by Forbes will ever be admitted to a press screening of a Disney film again, and knowing how litigious Disney is I wouldn't be surprised if it found a reason to sue Forbes.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

They can try but they will have a hard time winning. They would have to prove damages and well the movie is about to make a killing so no chance. And as for not letting in credentialed people...that will last a couple of movies but the last time they tried doing that it lead to a lot of backlash. They will do it symbolically for a bit but walk it back. (if they know who did it though he will be banned and my guess is every studio will ban him)

I dont know what the heck Forbes was thinking...you dont publish that stuff it ticks fans off. The clickbait effect is minimal. Plus it isnt like most people cant predict what is going to happen anyways ;)

They might not win but they can make a statement. Like you said, symbolism. And this is different from the previous time they banned critics from screenings. That was about the LA Times reporting some unfavorable facts about the Disney business. This is about breaking the embargo and posting spoilers. That's something the studios take seriously. Studios have banned outlets before for that reason and those haven't been lifted.
