Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

UND at Minnesota
Mode: 4-1 Minesota
Median: 4-2 Minnesota
Mean: 4.57-1.86 Minnesota
Win Prob: Minnesota 83%, UND 10% OT+ 7%

Minnesota's only got an 83% chance of beating UND? Wow. Well, I guess when you are depending on computers and math and all, anything is possible. And I'm not implying I think its impossible for UND to win, but I just would have a hard time seeing UMn's chances of being any worse than 90%.

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

Note also that Massey considers UND to be the #2 team in the country, not #8. So I'd agree 83% for Minnesota in regulation against the true #8 team would be unreasonable, but it seems reasonable for whoever the true #2 team in the country might be.

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

I'd imagine that they'd also win some percentage of those theoretical 7% of the games that go to OT.

If you apply the 83% rule on the 7% rule, you come out with a total split of about 89% vs 11%, pretty close to the 90% mentioned by a previous poster.

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

And the first vote for UND is in.

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

Who's coming to Minneapolis if their team advances? Or regardless?

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

TTT picks BU ....What Happened !!!

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

I'm going to be waiting by the phone as soon as tickets are made available, if any are made available. I kicked myself when I procrastinated and they got sold out. I should have known better.

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

Hahaha neither... I'm just more down on Clarkson than BU right now.

Wondered how long it would take someone to notice. :p

I have a full-on tournament preview going up tomorrow morning at 9am on BC Interruption, I'll link it here once it goes up. Any guesses as to who I have winning? ;)

Re: Which teams advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis?

I can't quite get the "really poor record" comment on Harvard's second half. So the team went 2-5 against NCAA qualifying teams, and tied two decent teams (Dartmouth & SLU), and then beat everyone it should. (And Harvard was just 1-1 against NCAA qualifying teams in the first half.) BC meanwhile went 3-1 against NCAA qualifying teams in the second half, lost two games against a decent Northeastern team, and tied an awful Vermont team, which is better but not really leaps and bounds better. It's certainly not a Frozen Four favorite performance for Harvard, and it's mediocre judged by that standard, but I wouldn't call it really poor.
