When I win the lottery....

Re: When I win the lottery....

If you are allowed to.

In New York, they are very specific -- the actual winner MUST participate in a press conference.

But I will be willing to spend a lot of money on a high priced lawyer who can find a loophole to prevent me from showing up myself at said press conference...

Wear a Guy Fawkes mask and answer everything with "No Comment". ;)

Re: When I win the lottery....

Only tickets I have for this go around are work pools. My office got 21 people to throw in $2, and my wife's office of 7 people threw in $4 each. So I've got a 35/292,000,000, or .00000119% chance of winning a share of the jackpot.

I'm gonna be rich tomorrow.

Re: When I win the lottery....

If there's one axiom in economics that holds true outside of the principles, it's that people will always find a way to adjust their lifestyles to their newly expanded budgets. A $50MM investment, with a safe yield of 3%, would gross $1.5MM in revenue, less account fees and earned income tax rates, and you're right around $750K, probably just under. People can spend that with very little effort, and that's not on items that will accumulate their physical possessions.

People can easily spend that, but I'm comfortable I wouldn't.
If I can't do what I want and be happy with less than 750K a year, then I'm a selfish a-hole. Someone posted a link below that showed Shaq's expenses. He makes over 21 million dollars a year but only spends 875K. House would be paid for and I mentioned a separate fund to pay taxes and upkeep, I wouldn't even trade in our 2015 subaru forester. What would I have to spend my money on besides food and travel? And most of my travel would be backcountry/trekking kind of stuff where the biggest expense is the airfare. I don't actually want to be rich, I just want to have the money to get out and experience the world without having to waste my time working :)

I hope you would at least fly first class...

Actually, you should be flying private jet (and you don't need to own one). It sounds like you'll have plenty of money to do so, and you can avoid all the hassles of commercial airports, the TSA not the least of which.

Re: When I win the lottery....

If no winner(s) tonight, we're looking at $2 billion. At some point, this gets ridiculous.

Only rich a-holes fly private ;)

1500 a month on cable TV? Over $3000 a month on phones? Over 30,000 a month on homeowners insurance. Insurance on my home valued at 420K is $500/yr. How is that even possible?
Pool, basketball court, large garage, kids, large land area. Yeah I could see it.

Yep, I can see some things being expensive to insure. I don't have a pool but I would expect that to be high for all the little numbnuts who sneak in and drown themselves.

sorry, but I have 106 chances to win, so I'M going to be rich tomorrow (21 people at work, $10 each, plus my monthly ticket), plus my mommy said I could quit my job if she won. So that's sort of 102.
