The Cure - Pornagraphy (live from the Trilogy concert). Oh my!!

Despite the utter lack of stage presence, The Cure live is a great show. Some bands falter live (*cough* GNR *cough*), others thrive. The Cure thrives.

"Stage presence" is a loaded term though, but I agree in general. While the members themselves don't act out much if at all, they are typically accompanied by great lights and visuals, and Robert Smith is an exceptional guitar player that whips out a solo more than than the uninitiated would probably assume from a band such as The Cure. Also Robert when the mood strikes has engaged a crowd I've been in far more than his typical abbreviated, "Tankyew" or however one might try to represent his accent. :D

btw as that CD ends, "Harbarcoat" by REM from Reckoning starts and I am re-invigorated.

I was thinking the showmanship (think David Lee Roth, or Angus/Bon-Angus/Brian, etc). The lighting does stand out, this is true. You just kind of get lost in the music/visuals, and are in your own little world. Quite the feeling.

David Bowie - The Next Day - what a god**** great record!!!

also picked up The Replacements - Tim on vinyl today along with Chelsea Light Moving (Thurston Moore's new band) on vinyl

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Thanks to Slappy's Floyd mention on GPL, it was Meddle, followed by Animals. Might go more mainstream next, with the HOF Dark Side Of The Moon.

Dude, I've had a huge Bowie "revival" lately thanks to the Hennepin County Public Libary system, including Low, Heroes, Lodger, Hours, Heathen and The Next Day.

btw the new Soundgarden King Animal is friggin way better than I would have imagined.

I want to thank you again for your Replacements and R.E.M. recommendations!

Is "Heathen" a decent LP? I've heard positive and negative reviews of it but I've yet to check that one out. I love, Low, Heroes, Hunky Dory and Ziggy and of course the new one.

yeah, I agree w/you on SG's "King Animal" it's an earworm, albeit kind of a slowburn at first.

Bowie can polarize quite easilty, but I think it's one of his better records in that era.

I think this group recently became big on YouTube, and that must be it because I've learned about them. At any rate, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers "I'm Your Woman"

Yup

I should have made an effort to see a Page & Plant show. Never saw Zep as I was 10 when Bonzo died.

Look at this crowd btw, lol. I'm guessing this is from the 90s as most of the P & P shows that I know of were from that decade, but the hair and clothes look like the 80s.

Got a few real nice sounding P & P shows and they're better & tighter than a lot of later era Zeppelin shows that I've heard.

Having to work today, mostly running around in the car and I got a hankering to hear U2 - October.

Perfect for this crisp autumn morning.

Haven't listened to this in a couple years. An absolute classic of epic proportions.
