What the Fark???

Re: What the Fark???

This board is to sophisticated to have an NBA thread, and this is a "what the fark" as well as a "too friggin' funny". Lebron James was deprived of a unanimous MVP selection because a Boston writer gave a first place vote to Carmelo Anthony, a New York Knick. Next thing you know, they'll be singing "Sweet Caroline" at Yankee Stadium. Oh, wait ..

The forum does have an NBA thread, but I think it's from 2010 :p

Re: What the Fark???

Is there a surplus of electrical generation in CA that they can afford to do this?

I like the Tijuana option.
I thought that the intent would be for the ship to run off its own battery power, then recharge the batteries while it's at sea with the engines running. Regardless, I'm expecting to see an uptick in Seattle's and Portland's dock business.

Re: What the Fark???

Methinks you doth protest too much. They prefaced it with "bagel baking" ovens, which is only a mild stereotype. :p

Now, if they'd just said "ovens", you'd have a better case for taking a joke too far. Even then, I've heard and shamefully laughed at far worse Holocaust jokes.

I made a Holocaust joke the other week. I said to my wife that Ke$ha's grandparents should've been tossed into the oven at Birkenau to save us from that horrific screeching she calls singing. The Mrs. wasn't too pleased about it.

I think the only holocaust jokes I've ever made are actually Sioux jokes, so that makes them OK.

Re: What the Fark???

It's always a bit of a hoot walking through Grand Central Terminal during a heavy rainstorm. The building leaks in multiple places, and so they put barrels under the places where water is coming through the ceiling. Walking through the north passage is a bit like those slalom drills they have athletes do, there are so many barrels set out.

You'd think that they'd fix the roof...

Maybe because there is more than one building on the site? so "the" roof is one of several, and the leaks might not even bee from "the" roof in the first place? maybe it's from the seams between buildings? it is really harder than most people think to track down leaks, water in motion is tricky stuff.

You're trying to tell me that directly over the bucket isn't a good start? That there's some sort of roller coaster happening between the ceiling and the roof that cause water in one location to fall on the ground somewhere completely different?!

Re: What the Fark???

Now this is just bizarre....

Is this what psychologists call "projection" (though I may be wrong about the term and am describing something else instead): one person has a situation-specific bad experience and then sees that experience in all sorts of other situations that don't really fit the original situation except in a very superficial way.

there's no doubt that the female student did suffer some kind of serious trauma, and one feels bad for her. at the same time, to act out in this manner?? doesn't she realize how she is taking a serious problem and making it sound trivial? which is just the opposite of what she wants??

Doesn't their 'husky' logo look a LOT like the MN Timberwolves logo? Just Askin'.
So, wait... Crunch raped her?

Re: What the Fark???

On the weekend of May 17, the state Department of Transportation will be closing lanes on northbound Interstate 95, as well as the Long Wharf entrance to I-95 north....During the weekend of May 17, there will be additional restrictions, including closing the northbound Long Wharf Drive entrance ramp between 11 p.m. May 17 and 5 a.m. May 18. Mercure said it will be a “weekend’s worth of work that’s going to cause some disruption” for drivers.

sounds innocuous enough, right?

well...

One complication is that May 17-19 is commencement weekend for Yale University, the University of New Haven and Albertus Magnus College,

What the fark???

Three colleges having graduation on the same weekend, and that's the weekend you choose to close the major interchange? I95 and I91 are both major arteries and you are going to take thousands of out-of-town drivers and do what with them exactly?

New Haven isn't exactly the most sensibly-laid out city to begin with. You can be standing in the middle of an intersection, and the street to your left will have one name, and the street to your right will have a different name, yet the road runs directly from one into the other. and many of the major streets wind around in loops and swirls. have fun on your detours, folks!

Transgender student told to wear female gown

ALBUQURQUE (KRQE) - A Saint Pius senior was born a girl, but refuses to go graduate in a girl's gown. The Catholic school says too bad.

At the Saint Pius High School graduation ceremony, the girls wear white gowns and the boys wear black. It is school policy and Saint Pius insists Damian is a girl.

“I just want to walk in my black robe, nice and proud and have that memory to look back on with my family and friends,” said Damian Garcia. “I would rather not walk than to embarrass myself by wearing a female robe.”

Damian Garcia was born Brandi Garcia, but identifies as a male even having a legal name-change last year. Fellow students, teachers and faculty call Garcia "Damian" and so does Damian’s family.

“I look at him and I call him my son. That's how he wishes to be acknowledged is as a male,” said father Luis Garcia.

The Saint Pius Superintendent tells KRQE News 13, Saint Pius goes by what the student's birth certificate says if there's any question on what gender-color they wear at graduation.
