Re: What the Fark 2: That Was... Interesting.

Are you guys saying you all have experience with one and/or the other?

I don't see anything wrong with it if you're single, but I am way too well scrubbed suburban for the former and way too cheap for the latter.

What would you guys think of a girl who paid her way through college by acting as a legal prostitute or escort?

I just don't get the "Here's x dollars. Pretend you like me." Same with the naughty bars. "Here's $20 to give me blueballs." Meh. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Go for it. Her choice. As long as she isn't "controlled" by a pimp or whatever.

I wouldn't knowingly dater her, but more power to her if it's her thing.

This, too.

And FTR, I unknowingly dated a former stripper. I eventually found out, of course, but that didn't end the relationship.

What do you think of a woman who gets taken to the theater outside her price range, and then gets to dine at a fine restaurant she otherwise couldn't afford, in return for sex? How is that much different?

I read a book years ago called Language and Women's Place (you can find a PDF copy here: http://web.stanford.edu/class/linguist156/Lakoff_1973.pdf). The author talked about different terms used to describe women who trade sex for financial support, and one of the words she included in her list was "wife."

That was not well-received in certain circles....

Something about a cow and free milk...

Marriage always had a degree of whoring to it before women were financially independent. We don't want to think of Dear Old Grandma that way, but she was working the trading floor when she was being courted. Women have always been far more practical than men.

I vehemently disagree with this author. They will not be back in a month. It will be a week and a half, or two trips to Wal Mart...whichever is less.

The really funny part is if Target had just done it, and not announced it....nobody would have noticed.

Perhaps Target finds themselves behind Wal-Mart, and needs to roll the dice on advertising their place. They busted when they went on their anti-gun tirade.

You know that old adage, no press is bad press as long as they spell your name right. Most of us who usually avoid Walmart would just laugh at those wankers who are upset that they're taking the Girls toys label off Barbie. Easy cheap advertising for Target.

Target is the crack of shopping to Minnesotans. They rolled the dice.

I'm sure there's the male equivalent (assuming there are Republican Congressmen in town) but for whatever reason they don't set off my radar.

Or Herb Kohl. Though he's an interesting case as 14 year old boys usually aren't allowed in hotel bars.
