Re: What the Fark 2: That Was... Interesting.

To be fair, if someone offered you a crapload of money to put you on tv, would you turn it down? Even if it puts you in a bad light?

I am NOT a fan of fake celeb tv (like the Duggars), and I have no interest in it. It makes me sick, to be honest. But if someone offered me a few mill to televise my pathetic life...I might consider it. Consider. /truth
And when it comes to being a "celebrity".....you take the good with the bad.

when I was a kid there were boys that would try to remove the bra of a girl while she was walking down the school hallways. Were they pedophiles? Or. were they the victim of overactive hormones?

You know that's sexual assault, right?

Your friends sound like real charmers. To be clear: they were a-holes who deserved to get their faces punched in. I'm sure they called smart kids "fag" and used the n word, too. Solid GOP material.

If it makes you feel any better, those shtheads are still out there (there is, after all, an entire political party of them) and clueless people are still apologizing for them. The good news is the rest of the world recognizes how disgusting they are now, and within another generation or two they'll all be dead outside the backwaters.

If you think it's "PC" to call them on their criminality, boo hoo for you.

"snapping bras" was not a big offense (relative to today) growing up. Is that a sad state of affairs? YES. Times change. To look at another issue, look at drinking and driving. Times change, MOSTLY for the better.

It "wasn't a big deal" because the people it happened to didn't count.

The point is it was a big deal. It was just in a context where parents and even authorities didn't value the girls' feeling of being attacked.

Semantics, but I agree. Lifting skirts? Never. Even in my day. NEVER DO THAT. FTR, never "snapped" a bra either. Never saw the point.

I remember "Goose Days" where guys and gals would goose each other at random, just because. Today? That would never fly.

Re: What the Fark 2: That Was... Interesting.

We're providing birth control to 14 year olds. There is some acknowledgement that there is some hanky panky going on between/among kids that age. Are the 15 year old boys doing the nasty with 14 year old girls pedophiles?

You may be too young, but when I was a kid there were boys that would try to remove the bra of a girl while she was walking down the school hallways. Were they pedophiles? Or. were they the victim of overactive hormones?

Because the offender is a Dugger and they are different than you and me, many want to crucify the (then) kid. If it was Ralph from Decatur, nobody would care nor would the world find out.

We always love it when the moral fall flat on their faces. Guess what - they're human and make the same mistakes that you, I, and the rest of society make. They are not saints and never said they were saints. 19 kids? Ye God! Not for me. But if they can support them and provide a loving family atmosphere, why not? Who am I to judge?

We (they) tell them what they did is wrong (admonish the sinner) and if they are heartily sorry and sin no more, then forgive the sinner and move on. Let the civil authorities determine if there is to be a civil penalty - that's not my job.
WOWOWOWOWOWOW! Seriously a new low for you. I get that it's the first instinct of any Christian to defend every Christian, but please: 1) think, 2) then type.

I know that you know that snapping a classmate's bra in public is not the same as fondling a sister's genitals while she is asleep in bed. Hint: when it comes to differences, the fact that one of them was done by a Duggar wouldn't make the top one hundred list. Your knee-jerk defensiveness causes you not only to entertain the notion that those two offenses are in the same solar system, but to double down by actually typing it.

Also, nice attempt to shift the blame to society at large - I mean, what should we expect when we're providing scary birth control to teenagers?! You should have just quoted the "Badmouth America" speech from Animal House and been done with it.

Sorry, but we are not all just as guilty as Mr. Duggar, even if we all fell short of treating a classmate or two with the utmost respect.

I would definitely turn it down. I am confident that I say more than enough stupid things in private during an average week to be edited down to quite the embarrassing half hour. ;)

FYP.

Oh, and your schoolmates that tried to take the bras off the girls were ***holes, not "victims" of anything....

Exactly.

I really hope that, in your mind, you can differentiate between two "consenting" (I know they may not legally consent in all states) 14 year olds and non-consenting incestual sexual activity.

I also think it is not a large leap to put a fair part of the blame on the family's fantasy based sexual education of their children.

Ralph from Decatur isn't trying to monetize and created some level of D-list celebrity having fathered 19 children, nor is Ralph from Decatur trying to monetize being a child from said family.
Not to mention being held up as "shining" examples of "family values".

Or the mother saying equality laws would lead to children being molested.

I doubt anybody thinks these "Celebrity Christians" are examples of family values except for, well, the type of idiot who watches "19 and Counting." Hopefully the more these creeps are caught in their mendacity, the more people will turn away from the whole sad, exploitative project.

Back in the early 90's, we had a kid get suspended for challenging other students to put some cinnamon extract/oil onto their lips. They were hyper sensitive about it because, as I learned that day, some people do not react well to undiluted cinnamon. No, it wasn't me who had the nasty reaction.
