Western Michigan 2010 Offseason -- And the next head coach is...

Re: Western Michigan 2010 Offseason -- And the next head coach is...

Despite all the complaints and arrogance coming from the tOSU faithful in their thread, this is a big hire by the Buckeyes.

I have a feeling that nothing would have made them happy, honestly.

It's on hold:

Ken Miller's quote about the commission not thinking the voters are smart enough to decide this is hilarious given that he clearly thinks we're dumb enough to buy his line of bull. :D

Thank God. No freaking need for it. There aren't exactly 5 year waiting lists for K-Wings or any WMU athletic ticket. And the idea of pulling all sorts of conventions and concerts away from Van Andel is ludicrous at best. I can get off the highway, park my car, and walk into Van Andel in 5 minutes. Getting to downtown K-zoo for anything from a highway is a PITA by comparison.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's over, merely stalled. The group behind this has got to be really good and mad that they aren't getting their way. They'll be back.

The obnoxious part is the small group behind it is loaded. Put some of your own money up before talking to a county with a *few* economic issues going on.

I am all for the school colors as long as the gold is you know, gold.

Some of the old brown and "yellow" stuff I see in pictures is just putrid.

Good point.

I'm right there with you. If this is such a "win-win" idea, why do they think it would take 6-9 months to "educate" the voters? Shouldn't we have picked up the swellness of the whole thing immediately? They can build whatever they want on that land as long as it's purchased from the university at it's fair market value and it's totally financed with private funds - not a dime of public funds towards it's operation, and that includes forcing university athletic teams to play there.

I second the motion.

From WMU Bronco website "Newly introduced Western Michigan hockey head coach Jeff Blashill will be in studio at WKZO 590 AM's Lori Moore Show on Monday at 8:45".

At his press conference he said he planned to have his assistants chosen by the end of this week. Perhaps he intends to announce them on our new flagship radio station on Monday?

False alarm. Good interview but no announcement.

Summery? I had to miss it this morning.

Not much in terms of facts or news. The main thing that I get from his interviews is a sense of his intelligence and motivational level. I am optimistic. I can't wait to see how this develops this season. Fingers crossed.

David Donnellan comes very highly regarded, and chose to play USHL rather than high school hockey with Eau Claire Memorial, despite Memorial's excellent program. I believe he has a brother out there somewhere, too, who is just as good.

In alumni news, Jamal Meyers signs in San Jose, so I should run out and get his jersey.

Once again this year I will be hosting a fantasy hockey league over at Yahoo. Click this link to go to the league page and sign up.

League ID: 2005
League Name: Bronco Hockey Blog
Password: buster

I will try for a 16 team league again, the draft will be an auto-draft once we reach 16 teams, match-ups will be head to head, and this year we will have a championship playoff. Once you sign up be sure to edit your pre-draft player rankings to give yourself the best chance at the players you want.
