We're Too Good for the Basement - Michigan Tech at Colorado College, Oct. 23-24, 2009

Re: Old News, Posted Late

Ok, I see we're already on to the next series but below is a link to some photos I shot during the Superior Cup weekend. I don't have a $2000 lens so you'll just have to live with the quality, but maybe if I'm good this year, Blizzard will leave one under the Christmas tree, rather than the steaming pile he left last year in the yard.

Does this person's handle rhyme with "***** toy" or "queer dong porn"?:p ;)

Bastage. :p I hadn't even posted in the thread until now!

Twitch: if you go to C Springs for the games, you must go to the Golden Bee for a drink or 2. Don't put the bee on the "dazzle" cloth of a jersey though.(ask shirtless)

I feel as if we'll be 0-1-1 on the weekend.
I expect no more than that.

Depends on which team Tech sends - the one that looked pretty decent against NMU or that other one.

Because I prefer to be surprisingly pleasant than sadly disappointed, I'm just assuming it's the LSSU lazy buggers.

Re: We're Too Good for the Basement - Michigan Tech at Colorado College, Oct. 23-24,

Can anyone from cc give us a synopsis of the team now that the season has started. How are people doing vs preseason expectations?

CC has 9 Freshmen so we are very young
No experience in goal - 2 freshmen and 1 junior who has played just 1 game

We are bigger than usual but still fast

Team has looked very competitive so far with more physical play and playing 4 lines up front (not usual for CC)

At Wisco played without the senior(s) Captain (Testwuide) and A-Captain (Vlassopoulos) and held our own

Just 1 **star** player if you will on offense Bill Sweatt

Really too early to say how we will do but I think we are well ahead of schedule

I think we can be a top 5 WCHA team if the goal tending holds up

Freshmen really fun to watch but they can get you beat

Well, it's informing me on how to solve erectile dysfunction...

However, it also has an ad for the Keller Graduate School of Management, which is surprisingly pertinent.

In other news: tickets ordered, room at La Quinta reserved, I take off from work at 11 Friday, in the Springs by 2, drinking yards of ale and having bees thrown at me by 3.

Might see you there but not quite that early
Will you be able to see me?

OK, maybe not that early.

I'm pretty much unmissable - just look for some idiot in a giant hot dog.

Hey Twitch, that gmf1a guy is a real riot!! Highly recommend you allow him and I to join you for some pre-game festivities. Heck I'll even buy you that yard of ale.

Re: We're Too Good for the Basement - Michigan Tech at Colorado College, Oct. 23-24,

I think CC was picked 7th and 8th in the pre-season WCHA polls, but last year the difference between 8th and 3rd was just 5 points. As has already been mentioned, CC is very young this year. Even some of the returning players haven't seen as much ice time as you might expect, since Owens gave the upperclassmen like Rau, Walsky and Connelly a ton of ice time.
So far on both Fridays I really liked how hard the team worked, and they were rewarded with wins. The first Saturday they were completely outworked, and it sounded like their effort wasn't as good on the second Saturday as well. I think this team is missing the top-end talent that most CC teams of the past 15 years have had, but on Fridays their hard work has made up for it.

Hey Rich

Did not see the Saturday Wisco game of course - but I was pleased with better defensive effort - fewer shots on goal and seemed on radio to be more in control of puck
