Welcome folks, to the Biden administration!

Somebody's peevish this morning. :-)

You lost.

Canoodle your feelings.

Dude, I told you, I didn't lose. I told you I was going to vote for Biden and I did.

Seriously, you can't be happy with someone who is named to a position like that and all she has to say is a stupid platitude stolen from a t-shirt of some sk8trboi in Portland.

For some reason I thought a lunar cycle was 28 days, which would have been just crazy. But at 29.53, the 30 days makes a little more sense. The 30-31 days still makes no sense then. It would have made a lot of sense if we went with 6 months of 29 and 6 months of 30. That would have made a little more sense, but then we’d only have 354 days. So.... still kinda arbitrary.

This just seems like a futile attempt to square the circle.

28.5 days, I thought, but I'm willing to concede an error on my part.

The 30 and 31 day counts for months started with the Romans, who, when reorganizing the calendar to what we know today, did so in honor of their various gods, goddesses, and emporers. Months with 31 days were considered to be of greater honor to that particular god, and usually reserved for them. Then other months started to be named after the first two Caesars, Julius and Octavius, and they were also esteemed enough to have that 31-day count. Get into the Way Back When machine, and I do believe that there were 13 months of 28 days, with that the Leap Year Day in place wherever.

Have you been paying attention to what the idiots in the Trump administration have been saying? Normalcy is a very welcome thing.

You = Republican.

You lost.

Your whole project collapsed. Even Frum et al. have finally seen the "small government" and "fiscal responsibility" sleeping draught was a delivery mechanism for Plute tax evasion so they'd have the wealth to raid the rest of the treasury.

Your whole political philosophy is bankrupt. The Right has been exposed as bigoted fascism to feed the proles' resentment while the elites who run your side steal everything not nailed down.

Figure it out or stay in denial. It's all the same to me.

And fark the Gregorian calendar for making September, October, November, and December months 9-12 rather than 7-10 as their names imply (and what they were, originally).

That's not Greg's fault, though. It's the Julian calendar that added those months. Greg just fixed some sh-t in the 16th century because the whole year had slipped 2 weeks.

I am in favor of one small adjustment.

Did I really lose, though?

Wall Street's boy got elected. Nancy's majority got chiseled into. Worst case scenario in the Senate is you're operating on a 50/50 basis.

I guess we'll see, in these next four years, whether I really lost, won't we.

Only you can answer the question of whether what the GOP is today is you. I was assuming you believe in all the pixie dust Reagan was on about individual opportunity and the ennoblement of the common man through personal industry unhindered by collective restraint. My point is: that is dead, no matter who won the election in 2020, because neither side represents it. It's extinct.

If you want Caesarism hyped by bigotry for the masses while the elites pillage then sure, I guess you will go to your grave as a Republican. If you don't then you need to suck it up and stop voting for them for good, and actively start voting for the only game in town that can deny them power. That's what I'm doing. As you point out, drone striking Yemenis and whitewashing the torturers is not my ideal political ethic. But I am so balls deep into it if it denies the Republican party power in any fashion. They're that bad.

Leave the GOP and join the coalition that is so broad it has Handy and me both in it. Then you'll have won. Until then you're backing Nazis and that makes you, as Jim Carey would say, a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooser.

I kind of like my politicians like my doctors, which is to say, first do no harm. Government is necessary to solve a certain, few problems, and is helpful to address some other problems, but can't address all problems. I don't see a Biden administration getting too far astray from that.

With respect to the concession you're willing to make, highlighted in your quote, I'd be careful. I've heard that letting people get away with bad things, so long as they keep voting for your team, leads to trouble.

I did a bit of deep research on the lunar phase (first wiki page I found). The synodic month is 29.53 days long.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_phase
The
lunar phase or Moon phase is the shape of the Moon's directly sunlit portion as viewed from Earth. The lunar phases gradually change over a synodic month (about 29.53 days) as the Moon's orbital positions around Earth and Earth around the Sun shift. The visible side of the moon is variously sunlit, depending on the position of the Moon in its orbit. Thus, this face's sunlit portion can vary from 0% (at new moon) to 100% (at full moon). Each of the four "intermediate" lunar phases (see below) is approximately 7.4 days, with slight variation due to the Moon's orbit's elliptical shape.

We made kissy with Uncle Joe to beat Hitler. That's what you do when you're looking down the barrel of fascism.

He'll have a lot of company in this country, that's for sure. Between the people who believed they had to hold their nose maybe throw up in their mouths a little to vote for Biden, and the people who often for republicans but they voted for Biden and Clinton last time (Lincoln Project type voters), and the 40% of the country that is absolutely lost for the rest of all time, that's a majority of the country. And that's why there is basically ≈ 0 chance of lasting political solutions to what is wrong with this country.

I don't know anybody like this. Hillary, sure. But Biden? No.

I think the pundits need a new column to write. This one goes the way of DEMS IN DISARRAY!!!111!!11

Most of my idiot members voted for trump, but a lot of my idiot colleagues said Biden was a joke, was senile, was corrupt (like they believed Hillary to be) and only voted for him because trump was worse. They are also TERRIFIED he will either die or resign and Harris will move up. As bad as Biden is, he is a white man after all. Some of their best friends are women or Blacks, but come on, we white guys are losing everything then...

It’s because old white men have the smallest dicks in the animal kingdom. Compounded by the fact they obsess over them more than any other animal.

Biden keeps delivering. His press secretary will be Jen Psaki. A cute redhead with great boobs.

And yes, I would like to apologize to all women, humans, and sentient beings everywhere. But still... she's got it going on.
