Weekend Scores. 11/25 - 12/1

Re: Weekend Scores. 11/25 - 12/1

Bobbie Mo and Clarkson in OT
And now the skills competition to decide it
Clarkson wins shootout 2-1 in 5 rounds and game 4-3.

Oh, collegehockeystats.net, you scoundrel. Showing me a score of Clarkson 5, Robert Morris 1.

Re: Weekend Scores. 11/25 - 12/1

If Haaavad and Cornell can pull huge upsets it will be a sweep of the WCHA by eastern teams today. I don't see those two upsets happening but I also didn't think Syracuse would beat UND either. Neither team could get to 20 shots on goal. 3 goals on just 16 shots for Syracuse. If you think that's good, Lindenwood scored 5 goals on only 18 shots against Mankato! Did Mankato have their goalies facing the right direction? Maybe the WCHA had too much turkey yesterday and they're still sleepy.

Cornell would be a 7th place team in the wcha based on what I saw tonight.

So if the Hockey East 7th place team rode the WCHA 5th place team like a pony last night, at the same time Lindenwood was running it up against Mankato ...

wouldn't that put Cornell somewhere around 3rd in the WCHA?

We're just asking questions here, guys.

Re: Weekend Scores. 11/25 - 12/1

WCHA cumulative NC won-lose record, including last night: 17-4-2

Shameful!

I will admit the WCHA finally had to play a stronger slate of teams yesterday -- combined 14-29-10. That helps explain the 9 goals for, 14 goals against.

Certainly not Wisconsin (or maybe UMD), but this is the year to beat Minnesota. Get ahead early by beating average goaltending and if you can do it, shut down Minnesota's first line. Maybe BU can do it early in December when Minnesota travels out east.

I'm commenting on what I have seen. I have seen UW play Mankato, St. Cloud, Cornell, Ohio State, Clarkson and Bemidji. Clarkson was very competitive, what a great series. The rest are all in the same boat, UW mostly dominating territoriality, though at least the wcha teams had some short periods of sustained pressure. Cornell did not, during the second period with Cornell having the long shift change, it was like UW was on the pp the whole period. It will be interesting to see if the little reds can make some adjustments now that they have played a game against UW.

You can't adjust to team speed when you simply don't match up in that aspect of the game. When you just can't keep up, it's no longer about coaching strategy or systems or anything like that. On the bright side it's great practice for your defensive zone game!

3-0 UND over Syracuse. Of course.
4-0 Minnesota over Bemidji. 3 of the 4 goals from the top line. Of course

MSU managed to earn a tie against Lindenwood today.
UND repaid yesterdays 0-3 with a 3-0 score of their own.
UMD was taken to OT by HU but won 2-1
St. Cloud rolled over for Rober Morris 5-3

A bit better day for the WCHA today

Funny thing happened at the UW game last night. On the scoreboard, they posted and announced over the PA system that Bemidji had beat the rodents 4-0. The place just erupted with a giant cheer, it was awesome. My posse and I are chatting away at how could the rodents lose to Bemidji like that, we were astounded. Then a minute later the PA guy comes over the system and says, "there's a correction on the Bemidji Minnesota score, Minnesota won 4-0", and the place erupts in a massive chorus of boos. The PA guy shrugged his shoulders like "oops". It was hilarious.
