Weekend results

+1.

Geneseo is a wagon....I don't argue they are young but this program has been in the upper tier of D3 for years. (and I can't wait to see how this new Geneseo/Utica rivalry will evolve).

Interesting thing to look at though, and based on Irish Eamon's latest response, Geneseo's schedule so far has been very weak. Heck, I would say any mid pack SUNYAC school would go 9-0 against that schedule.

So, in one sense, it's no surprise Geneseo is 9-0, despite what Irish Eamon said and based on what you say that Geneseo is expected to be this good. On the other hand, like Irish Eamon said, this team is young and right now hasn't been tested. This weekend will be a key test for sure. And if they sweep Utica, maybe I agree, they are a surprise. Or maybe I just go with, they are always reloading, so young or not, it is expected. Depends what mood I'm in. LOL

I'm personally predicting a split, but based on what some coaches have told me, it wouldn't surprise me if Utica sweeps.

Feel like Utica has the edge, but excited to see how the UCHC shapes up now that Utica has to fend off Geneseo.

For other matchups, I'm keeping my eye on the Curry vs. UNE series and St. Norbert vs. Trine.

Let's put this in perspective: Geneseo has 11 first years. Utica has 3.

This weekend cant come soon enough for them. There results this weekend will dictate their entire narrative on here for the next 2 months when they meet again.

Probably the most important result of the season. Charles Barkley was at SUNY fredonia for their win over Platty what????

platty falls to Freddy 2-0,Genny and The U 1-1 tie, back to the U tonight, and Oz plays at Cort tonight in a BIG tilt...Lets Go Lakers!!!

Congrats to the boys for two strong performances against Utica this weekend. This group of Ice Knights has not looked like a team with 11 first years. They've managed to blend in almost seamlessly and have pushed the veterans to up their game as well.

Kudos to Kris Heeres for another excellent group of recruits at a major time of transition for Geneseo athletics.

Looks like the Knights might really deserve their #4 national ranking.

not sure about the major transition, but do you know why the volleyball team tanked this year, recruiting??? anything to do with the major transition???

Not that I'm aware of, but it's always a possibility. They've been struggling increasingly over the last several years. (Note that our women's soccer and field hockey teams had great seasons with quite a few firstyears, so did men's and women's cross-country and (so far) swimming. All had strong recruiting years.) We'll see what happens over the next few seasons.

Great weekend of hockey. Hobart sent a strong message that they are the still kings of the castle. Elmira might move from pretender to wait until next year. Geneseo gaining lots of respect. Utica needs to go back to the drawing board and actually recruit players rather than just being a home to disgruntled D1 drop downs. Great fans, great uni’d, great cheerleaders, no heart. In the forgot to show up and play column: UW River Falls, Salve and Northland - way to give up 16 goals over the weekend. Lastly, can’t figure out the biggest Diva team, Adrian or Plymouth State?

Utica out shot Geneseo 80-53 over 2 games this weekend. Ran into a hot goalie, it happens.

Harris has been "hot" all season, and was the SUNYAC goalie of the year last season. Utica also gave up 5 goals on Saturday. Not saying Utica's not an excellent team, but I'd suggest there was more going on this weekend than Utica running into a hot goalie.

Huuuge weekend for Geneseo, so big props to them. Trine also might be legit with a strong showing against St. Norbert. Curry and UNE played to a split this weekend, feel like we'll see both in the tourney once again.

And my Panthers at least getting shouted out for something. Adrian at least has a championship to show and is in a tough conference, but they still haven't played St. Norbert or Trine yet so we'll see how they match up.

Plymouth... feel like we're playing the sloppiest I've ever seen. We'll go from beating Plattsburgh and losing by 1 to Trinty... and then can't even score in regulation against Westfield. Goaltending on both sides of the ice was insane this weekend, but almost going scoreless in our annual teddy bear toss is a painful way to end the semester. Hoping Prof. Russell will get the team back to the drawing board, but they need to relearn how to finish and transition if they want to have a chance.

Not the weekend, but Salem stunned Endicott with a 4-3 OT W. Endicott had double the shots and won face offs and still managed to bin the comeback. North Shore runs through the MASCAC!!!

Salem State beats Endicott at Endicott? Props to Salem for an incredible upset. Endicott better get ready to skate today at practice.
