Wednesday Women 2022-23

I agree that I'm looking forward to seeing who else collaborates with Nicole, but I also hope that you're a frequent contributor. I appreciate both your command of language and knowledge of the sport. Great read!

First Wednesday Women of the year. I got to participate as a guest. We talked about a lot of things, mainly the CHA. Many thanks to Nicole for the opportunity and I can’t wait to see who else joins her this year. :-)

Hey your a rock star! Pretty cool. I think if she wants to talk wcha there are a number of us who'd be more than willing. I bet TTT would be a good guest as well for some eastern perspective.

My favorite weekly article in season on USCHO. Sad to see Arlen retire, but Nicole and any guest contributors (if they are half as good as Lindsay) keep this #1.

I'm new to this! Is Wednesday Women a recorded series that was transcribed for the link? Or is it a written series?

Written series. What I’ve always liked about it as they meander through a bunch of stuff and cover a lot at once. Nice complement to the more traditional, tightly reported articles about a specific topic.

Thanks guys for the encouragement. Lurking Bobcat fans, Nicole wrote a good amount about Quinnipiac’s start in there too.

TTT is on deck for the next one and Lindsay will be back. That is as far as I've planned to this point.

We work in a Google Doc and for the most part, it's linear writing, though sometimes there's some jumping around. Docs allow us to leave notes and comments and questions about the flow.

I asked Lindsay about this pretty much as soon as Arlan told me he was done and I'm so happy with how it turned out

Positive changes.

I always wondered how the format would have worked, especially with a three-person week, if we'd done a Zoom or Meet and transcribed/edited it. But at that point, why take it to print at all. I guess that would suggest that the alternate format would be a podcast.

Nate Vaughan (the guy who writes up the TIG poll each week) and I briefly thought of doing some kind of podcast, but (1) I just don't have the time or emotional energy to do anything that recurring these days and (2) I would be likely to say something that I regret without having the benefit of Control-Z lol

I've been so busy lately I haven't even had the opportunity to update the Pairwise or GRaNT or KRACH calculators for this year, and it's going to take a lot of extra work to replace RPI with NPI in my Pairwise. Fortunately the Ivies starting late gives me a ready-made excuse. I'm going to be taking a long train ride down to Virginia next weekend and plan up update it and publish it then.

A podcast wouldn't have to be live, would it? If you do decide to pursue it at some point, you could record more than you need, edit out things you wish you hadn't said or where someone says "you know" seven times in one sentence, and view the finished product before you decide to publish or advertise it.

The back and forth discussions are somewhat attempting a conversation about hockey, but what we currently have are more like exchanging letters, that may or may not be exchanged in chronological order. Some fans might enjoy hearing something that was more akin to a Patty Kazmaier Award conference call (where some voters don't say a word). If I was your age, I'd think about experimenting with it on at least a one-time basis at some point.

I think I'm an old man at this point hahaha
It's going to be a long, painful life if you go there already. Even I'm only an old man when it gets me out of doing something I don't want to do ... and perhaps you've discovered that as well and you're using it in this discussion!

Enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.

Really liked what you said about Krach acknowledging that teams can beat each other. I’d put NU at 6 and UMD 9 right now but also recognize either team could go deep in a national tourney .

Cannot wait for whatever NU BC delivers this weekend. There will be drama, whether it’s on the ice or when the polls come out.
