WCHA title Michigan Tech vs Bowling Green

Re: WCHA title Michigan Tech vs Bowling Green

As of 3pm today, with any unwanted season tickets being turned back at noon, all seats and suites are sold out and 139 SRO tickets remain.

It's going to be rocking! Having the game on Saturday is awesome. I know a decent amount of alumni coming back.

This is why I think the new format is a great deal. I'm not happy that I can't watch the game on TV, but to generate this level of excitement is good for the conference.

Re: WCHA title Michigan Tech vs Bowling Green

I have no idea. Based on what I saw and heard on WCHA.tv at the Bemidji games we should have quite a few. The real question is did MTU set aside an allotment of tickets for BG? Based on what I read on our own boards, probably not since they were told that SRO tickets were all that were left. Houghton is a long way to travel for SRO tickets.

A lot of those Bowling Green fans were from the Brainerd area, which is about an hour and a half drive from Bemidji.

I did meet a nice couple from Tiffin, OH, though. They had seats near us because they thought the BG allotment would sell out.

It's 60 minutes of do-or-die. The Sunday game was the best, most intense hockey I've seen in a long time. With all the kids back, 100% of the band present, and half the town in the stands there's going to be a different energy in the building. That has to be worth a goal or two as long as the boys aren't gripping their sticks too tight. Senior leadership is strong so I think we'll be fine. Hope to see some BGSU fans in the house. They've been excellent hosts every time I've been down there.

They would be Bill and Karen Hoffert. They rarely miss a BG game regardless of where it's at.

The WCHA Championship Game, better known as: The game which determines the team to represent the WCHA in the NCAA tourney since the regular season champion isn't getting a bid... again.
Ryan J

Big 10 needs to lose their autobid for their 6 team conference tourney. Until the games, hope whoever wins runs the table from here on out

Re: WCHA title Michigan Tech vs Bowling Green

The rink is sold out, which based on the last two sellouts should mean 4,466 fans in a small room. With drums & horns. & a hockey game.

Re: WCHA title Michigan Tech vs Bowling Green

Fire chief looking the other way as more walk in?

For legal reasons, we don't count those people as fans. They're all "service animals." ;)

... I miss the days of my youth, when one guy bought a ticket and 10 of his buddies waited for him at a certain exit door during warmups. I think they're more vigilantly patrolled now due to budget demands.

BG will be in Houghton by noon Friday.
Luch was a thorn in their side at BG. I think the crowd is going to be amazing and will be the most raucous home crowd most hockey fans have ever seen.

Cannot wait to sit down, open my favorite beverage and watch this game. Go Tech, thanks to Mel and staff for making hockey season so much fun.
This is awesome.

Sounds like potentially the best hockey atmosphere right up there with the MN state tourney except probably louder as I expect the arena will be mostly black and gold rather than split. Wish I could be there

I see Bg flew up to Houghton. I wonder if they flew last weekend as well?

Re: WCHA title Michigan Tech vs Bowling Green

We also get to fly back if we win. If we lose, it's Greyhound...

Pretty sure we bussed to/from Bemidji.

I think you'd have to take a different bus service to Green Bay to even catch a Greyhound. I almost want BGSU to win to avoid that ride. ;) I do hope to see some of your fans in Houghton. They've been awesome.

They did take the sleeper bus to Bemidji last weekend. 14.5 hour ride.

I was told the difference between the sleeper and RJ charter was made up by some alumni donations.

Back to back road trips to Bemidji and Houghton ought to be great motivation for home ice next year. I get tired just thinking about it. I hope they have jet, I mean prop lag.
