WCHA Thread V

Re: WCHA Thread V

I think you can vote for your own players, just not your own team in the poll. There have been years where somebody was a unanimous selection for Preseason POTY or ROTY.

Ahh, so Johnson voted for Nurse to motivate her and he didn't vote for Pankowski to motivate her. Smart guy.

Re: WCHA Thread V

"WCHA teams finished the 2014-15 season with an NCAA-best 38-11-2 (.765) record against non-league opponents. In fact, the WCHA was the only D-I league to own a winning nonconference record." :)

"WCHA schools ranked 1-4 nationally for average attendance, with fans heading through the turnstiles at Minnesota's Ridder Arena (2,037 per game), Wisconsin's LaBahn Arena (1,922), North Dakota's Ralph Engelstad Arena (1,150) and Minnesota Duluth's AMSOIL Arena (1,130)."

Re: WCHA Thread V

There is free video available for UMD at L'wood...in case you're interested. UMD seems to be controlling early but no score yet.

Check that, UMD has scored.

UMD won 4-3 in OT yesterday and 4-1 today. Next weekend my Buckeyes travel to Missouri to take on the Lions. I imagine they will be hungry after this weekend's results. Mrs 86 and I are heading down. We wanted to go to Wisconsin for the 10/10 - 10/11 games in Madison, but the wife has to work every other Sunday now, so we couldn't do the Wisconsin trip this year.

So, if I have the results correct, both the Beavers and Mavericks win one and tie one in NC action this weekend. Minnesota Duluth sweeps a NC series...winning one in OT.

The Whitecaps lose to both the Gophers and Huskies. I wouldn't have bet on the Huskies beating the Whitecaps. Sounds like Fitzgerald was strong in goal for SCSU.

I wouldn't have either but the Huskies return a lot of D this year, they have good experience there, their net minder should again be their strength, and maybe they have just enough offense to win

Re: WCHA Thread V

All 8 teams playing non-conference games away from home (one series is at a neutral site). All are Friday/Saturday unless otherwise indicated.

Minnesota at Penn State - Thursday/Friday
Bemidji State at Vermont
St. Cloud State at Merrimack
Minnesota State at RIT
Minnesota-Duluth at Boston College
North Dakota at Rensselaer
Ohio State at Lindenwood
Wisconsin vs Providence at Sharks Ice (San Jose, CA)

Interesting to see how all of NoDak, Ohio State and Wisco come out of the gate.

Prediction: Beavers sweep.

Wasn't quite the same Whitecaps we saw Friday night w/o the Lams and Noora. Key stretch midway in the 3rd when SCSU scored three times in ~ 2 1/2 minutes. Still, a good result for the Huskies.

I was wondering which Whitecaps' players might have been missing for the St. Cloud game. With so many extra players you never know who's going to be in the line up. Even so, as you say, a very good (and surprising?) result for the Huskies.

here is part of your answer:

the lineup is posted on the WCHA website
SCSU vets replaced some of the players, maybe they didn't want to see their school lose

Prediction: All WCHA teams sweep

Maybe I should read the whole list of games! I'm not picking UMD to sweep BC
I'll be surprised if MSU can sweep at RIT. Hard to know what to expect out of SCSU at Merrimack or OSU at Lindenwood.
