I think Sarah Nurse takes the place of Schipper in the name of reducing Gophers if nothing else.

Darned if we don't have us some real excitement and drama in the WCHA today with two...count 'em...two best of three series going the distance.

Hope Butters and the Mavs can push the Cardinal Scourge to the max...or even invalidate their ticket to Bemidji.

Oh and...Go Buckeyes!

I'm not sure I even want that. If UW loses again, they'll probably drop to No. 4 in the PWR by selections in two weeks. I'd still rather have them on the other side of the bracket for NCAAs, although if they aren't good enough to beat MSU best of three on home ice, then maybe I shouldn't worry about the Badgers too much. Also, I like the WCHA tournament to be as tough as possible as a prep for what is ahead.

Kato is giving up a ton of shots this weekend, but not alot of quality shots and they are playing great D in front of Butters. Is she going to physically hold up after 2 exhausting games? It's going to be a fun game to attend yet again, a little bonus hockey on a Sunday afternoon.

My guess is she'll have sufficient adrenalin to get her through. Trip to Bemidji on the line...I'll bet on a better Badger effort today.

Eric Means said earlier in the season that he was giving Erin Krichiver more minutes in net during the season so that Butters wouldn't be worn down by all the saves she has to make once playoffs roll around. I agree with Brooky that Butters will play fine, but a more determined UW will likely be the difference today.

Still 2-1, now after two. Buckeyes lead in SOG 19-14 but could not capitalize on several power play opportunities.

Listening to the Bulldog audio and Coach Miller's comments about Saturday's game. Let's just say that I'm not surprised by anything she had to say.

Wow. You have to go back to the WCHA Final Face-Off three years ago to find the last time the Gophers allowed seven goals on a weekend. And thus the wink?

I'm unfamiliar with the rules set that allows North Dakota to lose a semi and then come back and play in the final.

I don't see Shaw as Rookie Team goaltender. If you include a goalie that wasn't the starter for her team, then Desbiens was better. If you give more weight to somebody who was her team's No. 1, then Mowat had the same save percentage as Shaw and was clearly more important to her team.

I expect that the awards will be announced today. Any thoughts for Defensive Player of the Year? That one isn't obvious.
