WCHA Thread IV

Re: WCHA Thread IV

The game seemed a little slow and laboured at times and started opening up at other times but in the end I think the better team on the day won.

Hard to argue otherwise, but it would have been interesting had the Badgers not have to kill a penalty in the final 3 minutes when they had some momentum after their goal.

Lack of elite offensive talent (outside of Decker) came back to haunt them again today. Can't expect to win games 1-0 or 2-1 against good teams.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

I wouldn't understand why. I mean, what JT did in 2010 with the tat-5 has no bearing whatsoever on the number of years before that, especially in 2002 in his second season at OSU. Anyone who thinks "Tressel was cheating all along," is just choosing to ignore the facts.

Anyone who thinks Tressel was cheating all along is familiar with his tenure at Youngstown State. Plus, some of the evidence that came out during the investigation strongly suggested violations as long ago as 2002.

I should have just stuck to my original point and not brought up all the Tressel snubs, which was that it was nice to see a league that doesn't penalize a coach in CoY voting just because he outrecruits the rest of the league and knows how to mold all those star players into a dominant team. That was my point. As for the game tonight, not much to say other than good luck tomorrow and in the NCAA Tournament. Hopefully, we lost to the National Champions tonight. I shudder to think what the score would have been if not for all the saves by Chelsea Knapp. Should be an interesting game tomorrow night. Is it a given that UND has to win to get into the NCAA Tournament?

Re: WCHA Thread IV

No, I believe UND is 8th in the PWR. If NE loses to BC, which is a very good possibility, then UND is in no matter what. If NE beats BC and UND loses to UMn, well, then I'm just sure anymore?

UND also has to worry about St. Lawrence or Providence winning an autobid in addition to Northeastern if Minnesota wins on Saturday.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

Oh yeah, forgot about the autobid. Would suck for UND, but would I rather see us have to play UND again, or St Law or Providence?!

I guess we are familiar with UND. and we are 4-0 vs them and I hope we would be 5-0 vs them going into the tourney, so that might be the preferable game? But then again, they are familiar with us, too, and I'm not sure, you can only beat the same team so many times, you would think? UND might be ****ed about supposedly getting snubbed in the Kaz Selections? If we lose to them tonight, then I'd DEFINITELY want to see them again in the tourney, to get the revenge. If they beat us, might they not move up to #7 though?

But I'm very confident in this team, hopefully they are not as over confident as I am, lol, but I think it would be nice if we got to play 3 straight games vs Eastern teams in the NCAA tourney. You know, just to make sure and get a chance to prove that we really are the best team this year, and that we didn't dominate solely because of playing a little weaker of a conf slate than some teams did.

Assuming you must be new to Women's NCAA hockey is you think the WCHA was a "weaker conf slate than some teams played" Minny is the real deal and I wouldn't be surprised if they shut out every eastern team they play and i would expect 4-5 goal margins in every game.

granddaddyscout --

LOL, no, I am not new to women's hockey and you must understand that I am NOT claiming that we did in fact play a weaker conf slate, just that SOME might try to make the claim that we did.

Only saying this because UMn could possibly be only 1 of 2 WCHA teams in the 8 team NCAA tourney field.

I know all about Minnesota, and have followed them since their very first year and know full well that this team is the real deal. But at the same time, I wouldn't go so far as to say we are going to win every game 5-0. Sure, we have the players who are capable of doing just that to probably any team in the country. But at the same time we got taken into OT by one of the bottom dwellers in the conference not too long ago, so anything could happen.

Blackbeard -- You wouldn't happen to know the link to tonight's game, would you? I tried a few yesterday and didn't have any luck, but did with the link you provided, so again today I tried other ways to find the game, and couldn't, so can you help out again?

Just got on myself and can only get the replay of yesterday's UND vs UW game. I'll keep searching and let you know.

I know it's free but...Horrible video quality...reminds me of two tin cans connected with a string.
