Re: WCHA Thread IV

Minnesota-Duluth @ Boston College

New Hampshire @ Wisconsin

Bemidji State @ Ohio State

Minnesota @ North Dakota

Minnesota State @ Mercyhurst

St. Cloud State @ Providence

These series coming up this weekend. Another tussle for first place in the conference. The Mavs head to Erie. The Wildcats of NH visit Madison.

Status of Karvinen the big question from my vantage point.

Yikes, another real tough week for those who are inclined to predict the outcomes. Somebody else go first! ;)

OK D2D, I'll bite. Very interesting week coming up. Three very intriguing NC match-ups and a WCHA match-up to decide bragging rights.

UNH at Wisco....Both teams have been inconsistent.
...UNH showed promise at times (Split vs BC, road Sweep in NY) and then lose at home vs a struggling and injury riddled Vermont.
...Wisco last two weeks have been...Umm Struggling...Can they do a Vermont and surprise UNH ?
...I'm going for the split....Wisco wins the first game, UNH comes back to win the second game.

UMD at BU....At the start of the season this promised to be a great match-up. With BU firing on all cylinders, not sure if UMD can steal any points on this trip.
...BU Sweep.

MSU at MC...At the start of the season this looked to be another MC stats padding game. Now not so much. MSU tender is pistol Hot, and MSU is in third place in the WCHA. Who would have predicted that a month ago ?. MC has been good, but not stellar. Expect this to be a split as well. MSU steals the points in the first game. MC comes back to win the second game.

Minny at UND.....While this is for WCHA bragging rights, UND has looked vulnerable in the back, and Minny anything but. One of the two games will be tight, but I see a sweep for Minny.

BSU at OHIO.....This one is for the OSUALUM fan. OHIO sweep to grab sole possession of second place in the WCHA.

SCSU at Providence.....Friars have been looking pretty solid in the post Lacasse era. Unlike 3 years ago, when SCSU picked up two wins on their last visit to Providence (vs the Bears), they won't so lucky this time around when playing the team at the other end of town. Sweep for the Friars.

This is one that you have wrong, at least for THIS weekend. ;)

Officially confused now. BU or BC?

Better possible outcome for UMD at BC?

Thank you OnMAA! We need that after the weekend we just had! Hope you are correct on that! I don't know about sweeping, but I am sure we will bounce back. We have a great coaching staff and kids! As for our series vs Minnesota, all I can say is God help anyone who goes up against those Gophers!

Re: WCHA Thread IV

:OOOPS: :o Umm Yeah B-something vs UMD...What is 5 miles again. Nothing if you are a Marathoner, accustomed to running the BAA marathon where the infamous hart break hill is just before you run right by the BC campus, with legs aching, your brain on neutral and 5 miles to go to Copley Square, or 5 miles to BU in a slightly more north east direction......Brain fart... :o Was working and doing predictions at the same time. Obviously failed in one bid.......

......While the BC-UMD match-up will be much closer, with both teams having unexpected losses in their early repertoire, still going for the home sweep of BC over UMD.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

OK, here we go again!

Minnesota-Duluth @ Boston College I'm going with a split

New Hampshire @ Wisconsin Another split!

Bemidji State @ Ohio State Buckeyes sweep

Minnesota @ North Dakota Gophers all the way! (but it won't be easy)

Minnesota State @ Mercyhurst Mercyhurst sweep

St. Cloud State @ Providence Another evenly contested WCHA/Hockey East series - and another split

Re: WCHA Thread IV

Ahh... yes... My picks...
Minnesota-Duluth @ Boston College - Split... UMD has been shaky, but so has BC.

New Hampshire @ Wisconsin - Split... UW finally found some scoring Sunday, but then their defense let them down.

Bemidji State @ Ohio State - Buckeye sweep... Until the Beavers show me something...

Minnesota @ North Dakota - Gopher sweep... Dagfinrud may reduce MN scoring, but not enough for UND to get wins

Minnesota State @ Mercyhurst - Split... Are the Mavs for real? Maybe. ;)

St. Cloud State @ Providence - Split... St. Cloud has enough defense to earn one win, not two.

Until the Beavers show me something...
BSU's first series win over Wisconsin in program history wasn't "something"? After the first couple series, I was actually impressed, slumping Badgers or not.

True... I could have worded my comments better. But I believe that those results were more due to Wisconsin's poor play than anything else. And BSU's four points against the Badgers does not overshadow having been swept by SCSU the weekend before.

Re: WCHA Thread IV

True as well, but from what I've seen from SCSU thus far, I get the sense that the Huskies are going to be a much stronger team than they were for the last couple of seasons. If the results in Madison say more about the Badgers, I believe that the results in Bemidji say more about the Huskies.

Dave, don't attempt to apply logic to wcha game results, because there is no logic. However, SCSU is much better than they've ever been. UND only beat SCSU 1-0 on the weekend.

Your comments are just another example of disrepect to the bottom feeders..... Go Bottom Four!

Very well put...thank you Arm

Re: WCHA Thread IV

All very worthy winners. However, IMHO, just another example of no respect for the bottom four.
Just my opinion, but if those recognized performed worthy of their selection it doesn't indicate a lack of respect for any team. I may be unaware of other recognition worthy weekends around the conference. Are their some outside this group that should be noted?

Edit: I'll get off my lazy butt and look into the weekends of Butters and Ryplanski...and some other fresh.

Looking back...Ryplanski was very worthy of recognition IMO...for one.

Hey...Butters too...for sure. I think she might have been my pick.

Excellent weekends for both.

Ha yeah I realize that, I just took this opportunity to support the bottom four. Those chosen for the awards are for sure worthy. I certainly don't want to come across as some socialist and say the wcha should spread the recognition around haha ;)

Re: WCHA Thread IV

And Tracy McCann certainly represents the traditional Bottom 4, even if her team is higher this season.
