Might as well subtract out the the 2 non-conference games (next weekend) between LSSU and NMU. It's an automatic wash in terms of comparing WCHA records versus other conferences so there's no value in including those 2 games.

Same for the two UAF/UAA non-conference tilts.

I keep the non-conference, interleague games on the schedule listed, but they do not get figured into the overall league record since they are a wash for the league (hence the "4-6 Interleague Games (Not counted in league total)"). They do get figured into the team record though, since they would play a roll in a teams Pairwise Ranking.

Re: WCHA Season Thread 2017-18: In Which We Try For Two Bids

I really wish the conference would put an end to playing conference teams in non-conference games.

Re: WCHA Season Thread 2017-18: In Which We Try For Two Bids

I think Hammer is a Ferris fan.

I'm still around. The problem is, I'm 200 miles away from Big Rapids, I haven't seen Ferris play in person in 3 years, and I'm involved with the Adrian program now. So, I'm sorry, but I don't have much, if anything, to contribute to the WCHA at this time.

Check the Ferris thread?

I haven't started one in 4-5 years.

Re: WCHA Season Thread 2017-18: In Which We Try For Two Bids

Couldn’t agree more. Other than maybe save some travel costs it doesn’t do anything to advance the conference.

Gives both Northern and LSSU an extra home game instead of traveling for another road series non conference.

I really wish the conference would put an end to playing conference teams in non-conference games.

It was originally an agreement between Whitten and Kyle. Now with Walt gone at NMU, it remains to be seen whether or not it will continue.

Personally, I like playing NMU four times a year, but the league scheduling doesn't allow for it each season.

And how would you like them to do that? Fine teams that do it? It’s easy for you to say at BG where you have UM, MSU, OSU, WMU, Robert Morris, Meecyhurst, Penn State, Miami, Niagara, Canisius & Notre Dame all within a five hour bus ride. NMU has Tech, LSSU & UMD in that same radius.

My team is a six hour bus ride, on a good day, from our nearest opponent.

I get why teams are doing it. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Sorry, I thought we had a shot at that one.

Re: WCHA Season Thread 2017-18: In Which We Try For Two Bids

You did better than Ferris. Yikes.

I think that Allison scored again in the parking lot. That said, 1-2 on the evening with two big names going to the 49th, always a tough place to play early in the season. Go UAA and UAF!
