WCHA Playoffs 2015: MacNaughton Quest Determined

Re: WCHA Playoffs 2015: MacNaughton Quest Determined

First weekend everyone is in the playoffs - 10@1, 9@2, 8@3, 7@4, 6@5

Thursday
5th best series winner vs highest seed that lost in the first round
Sort of a last chance qualifier type opportunity if one or more higher seeds gets bounced in the first round
4th best series winner vs 3rd best series winner
Maybe you would swap #4 and #5 if my proposal would result in a rematch of the previous weekend. For example if #6 beat #5 in the first round, that would result in the the same two teams playing again on Thursday and you don't need the same two teams playing 3 or 4 times in about a week's time.

Friday - reseed
Lowest remaining team vs #1
2nd lowest remaining team vs #2

Saturday
Loser vs loser
Winner vs winner

Please say NO to drugs.
This is the stupidest idea ever.
WCHA will probably adopt it next year.

let's all go to Huntsville. what WCHA team (and its fans) wouldn't want 60's and sunny? the UP teams would take 40 and rain and still be happy.

Plus, they get to play in the only ice arena in the country to be named after a Nazi.

74ºF today! It's my last day before the new job. I have all the windows open at the house airing out the new carpet smell. It's sunny. The college hockey season hasn't ended just yet. Life is pretty okay — but it would be way cool if everyone showed up tomorrow to fight for the Broadmoor.

For you Pairwise Predictor fanatics:

Is there a situation where the Final Five results are Ferris, BG, Ferris and we get four teams in the tournament? Tech and Mankato seem to be locks, and I figure that a semifinal win makes the Falcons into a lock. It would rob the WCHA of a #1 seed, to be sure.

We're locked in as a #1 seed. Losing any game this weekend takes out of the running for THE #1 seed, but even winning might not get us that.

The Mavericks can't be lower than 2 in the pairwise.

Re: WCHA Playoffs 2015: MacNaughton Quest Determined

I think what he's saying is, it completely takes away any shot we have at Tech being a #1, and the WCHA getting 2 #1 seeds.

Ah, that makes much more sense. I thought it was odd GFM didn't know the Mavericks were locked in, he's usually in tune with everything going on.

Would be nice to see the WCHA with 2 #1 seeds, so if the Mavericks can't win the Broadmoor again, hopefully Tech does.

Re: WCHA Playoffs 2015: MacNaughton Quest Determined

In other news collegehockeyranked.com has BGSU in 97% of the time with a win vs MTU, loss in title, 46% with a loss to MTU. If you take bigblue's example below and change the MTU vs BGSU game. BGSU is still in and MTU is up to #4t.

Re: WCHA Playoffs 2015: MacNaughton Quest Determined

I honestly haven't looked at Pairwise this year, MavHockey14, between trying to get a good handle on how the playoffs would go, getting engaged, starting a new job, and trying to figure out how to merge her stuff and my stuff into my townhouse. (I start the job tomorrow and have given away a fridge, sold a washer/dryer, and am waiting on flooring estimates today. Oh, and I have on-boarding paperwork.) I figured that it was possible, though.

Re: WCHA Playoffs 2015: MacNaughton Quest Determined

Welp... just read an article that said the WCHA Final Five doesn't exist, no Broadmoor Cup will be handed out, and the WCHA joined the CCHA, Findley, Wayne State, and the University of Illinois, Chicago in the big rink in the sky...

http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=758753

It will be the first B1G championship held in the Motor City. It’s also the first college championship held at The Joe since the Central Collegiate Hockey Association disbanded following the 2012-13 season.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association, former home to Minnesota and Wisconsin, also dissolved after 2012-13, allowing for the realignment in the B1G.

Save your money folks, there isn't a WCHA Final Five!
