WCHA Final Five: Minnesota vs Colorado College

Re: WCHA Final Five: Minnesota vs Colorado College

The Gophers have played great in just about every big game this year. I'm feeling pretty confident.

Re: WCHA Final Five: Minnesota vs Colorado College

I tried to just go watch this game and not care which team won. But its hard to resist rooting against UND. They just aren't a very likeable bunch.

I like the little midget. He is kinda cute out there.

Re: WCHA Final Five: Minnesota vs Colorado College

Sadly, my daughter and I may have been the only Denver fans in the X last night. It was very interesting to watch CC execute the exact same game plan that knocked us off last weekend. They got doubled up on shots again but hung around long enough to get a lucky bounce. I think the game winner went off of a UND guy. Again it was strong goal tending, precise puck movement--quick breakouts and strong movement through the n-zone, keeping the Sioux on the perimeter and closing down shot lanes. Their kill is much improved and way better then their season avg indicates. They held a good UND team to 0-6 on the PP. They stuck to their game plan--it was like watching tape from last Saturday and Sunday night. Have to give them a lot of credit. Sioux and their fan base came in very confident. If I'm the Gophs, instead of being relieved to draw the 8th seed, I'd be thinking hard how to bust up this new look Owens has developed. The question is do they have time and did they even prepare for CC at all?

CC did a great job against UND. And against DU. Often its when you play and how styles mesh that determine outcomes.

I just don't see CC lasting another 3 periods (after yesterdays 4 periods) against a team with the deep horses that Minnesota has. Minnesota could even get knocked out of the NCAAs early, but I'd put money on today's game.

Re: WCHA Final Five: Minnesota vs Colorado College

I had a revelation tonight:
It's not that I like to see UND lose, it's that I hate to see them win.

That being said, I'm a bit disappointed we don't get to see 1 last MN-UND match-up. Judging by all the green at the X tonight, that place would have been totally bananas tomorrow.
Would it have been fun? No doubt. Was it hilarious to watch their overconfident, hick fanbase walk out of the X dejected last night? HELL YEAH!:D

I couldn't do it. The first CC goal I clapped. The second goal CC scored on the shorty I stood. On the third goal I didn't show too much emotion because I was in shock. When they won in OT, we stood up and cheered for a moment, headed for the exits, and got our heads ready for tonight.

I'm not overconfident, I just like the way the Gophers match up against CC. Plus, if the Gophers are going to lose tonight, I'd rather lose to CC than to UND. As others have noted, there will be a ton of CC fans in the building tonight, just like there were last night.

They'll be there once they change into their Holy Cross jerseys...

Don't worry gopher fans it won't just be und fans cheering for CC. I'll be joining in that fun too!

The MN-UMD relationship is bizarre. The Gopher fans I know root for UMD almost as if it were their own team. The Bulldog fans I know do not like the Gophers at all.

it is a one way street for most opposing fans. UND, UMTC, Wisconsin fans cheer for UMD to do well in certain situations. But I certainly won't cheer for those teams.

That is kind of interesting. I just hope SCSU can take care of UW. If SCSU moves on, a game with CC or UM would be pretty entertaining.

Looking forward to the announcement coming Saturday from all of the Minnesota teams.

Joe Howe stole the game last night. Nice to see Minnesota kids do well in the spotlight. Good luck tonight.

We just don't dislike UMD, and would rather have them win when they play teams like UND and UW.

One way street is right. Back when the Gophers missed their own regional at Mariucci, Gopher fans were saying how they would be pulling for UMD. DHG pretty much begged for Gopher fans to NOT cheer for UMD.

Were you not entertained?

Most folks like to see UMD and Tech do well if their team isn't involved. But I don't blame them for not pulling for UW, for example.

Also, I'm not most folks and am always going to be 50% disappointed in games Bucky has no stake in. I want both teams to lose. :(

I think it's two-way for us and DU... while I passionately despise them, I have still been known to quietly want DU to do well when they are playing in the national tourney. (A little tougher in the league tourney.) But I may be biased by having given 6-figues worth of tuition money to that abominable institution.
