Badgers score again with under a minute left in the period. Breann Frykas pops another loose puck past Grogan. 3-2 Wisconsin.
EDIT: That's the end of the 1st period. Shot favor Minny 13-5, but we can see that that doesn't mean much.

Some poor play in their own end happened twice for Minnesota resulting in two goals against...that should have never happened.

Windmeier launches one from the neutral zone, about 4 feet outside the blue line, and it gets past Grogan to make it 5-2 Badgers. 9:34 to go in the game.

That's it. Badgers win 5-2 and pull within 2 points of the Gophers in the conference standings.
Okay, Badger backers... I expect to see a new thread now for the regular season.
Why is it the Gopher football team and women's hockey team never both have a good weekend when the two seasons overlap?

I would guess mainly because the Gopher football team hasn't had too many good weekends the last couple of years?
I just got back from the Gopher mens game, and they bounced back real strong after a poor start this year, with their sweep over Alaska Anchorage.
Looking at the womens box score, I see they outshot the Badgers 40-15. From the comments above it looks like the story of the game was too many defensive breakdowns coupled with less-than-stellar goaltending, which is always a lethal combination.
Hopefully they can use the bye week to their advantage, getting back to basics (working on team defense!) over the next couple of weeks in practice and bounce back strong.
