Re: WCHA Border Battle - Minn at Wisc - 10/30 & 11/1
Congrats to the Badgers for a huge win this afternoon. Unfortunately, with a 2:00 face-off, was not able to attend as I had to work. Kind of a shame a game this big gets relagated to a weekday afternoon.
Even though it's still October, it was really a must win in order to realistically stay in the WCHA race. Same could probably said for Sunday's game.
Actually thought that there would be a bigger crowd with it being Kid's Day. Normally, these games draw well over 2,000. Speaking of crowd sizes, yeah they are boosted a bit by suites attendence, it's not radicially higher than announced size. It's just looks smaller because of the overall capacity of Kohl.
I've been surprised by the crowd sizes at Ridder for the Wisconsin series and WCHA tourney. The championship game against the Badgers last year may have been a half capacity.
The main issue I have with going to games at Ridder is parking. I'm not thrilled with the higher game ticket price (relative to UW), but paying to park in a virtually empty parking lot is a joke. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place to watch women's hockey, but the athletic department could make going to a game a tad more family-friendly (price-wise).
