WCHA 2023-2024 Calamity Or Calmness?

Wow that's a shocker. I think Muzzy would sure enjoy getting back to Minnesota.

I really think Bemidji needs to make a move, another great fit for Muzzy.

Muzzy would be wise to wait for the Frost Job, she wouldn't let inmates run the asylum. Frost will be gone at the end of next year when his contract is up

If Mark Johnson were to retire, would UW AD Chris McIntosh send out any feelers to Muzzy? Is Muzzy a done deal eventually to the Gophers?

I'm pretty sure the Badgers would probably stay in house with Koch, but who knows what McIntosh could be thinking. He has shown he isn't afraid to go outside the UW circle if he feels the best candidate is somewhere else.

I'd be shocked if Koch wasn't given the chance.

Adding: as far as McIntosh going "outside" for football and men's hockey, in both cases he was supposedly looking to 'fix' programs showing performance problems. That's hardly the case with women's hockey.

Wisconsin regularly extends coaches so that they have three or four or five years on their contracts. So they can say to a recruit that they'll be around for the recruit's time at UW. It didn't mean anything when the football coach was canned and when the men's hockey coach was canned.

That works for us, if she left us panic and despair would last for years!

If that's the case I can only imagine what it'd be like if Ryan Day left...maybe not for the people on these boards but for the ~90k season ticket holders....

best I could tell, Chryst was done dirty but that's a discussion for another day and place.

Our AD strikes me as pretty conservative with personnel decisions. Hard for me to imagine what Frost would do besides perhaps coaching in the PWHL and hard for me to imagine our AD firing him after a top-10 finish/NCAA appearance.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think our new AD ever worked where there was hockey so I wonder were hockey stands on his radar. He's had by all reports a controversial past and I've heard he was chosen because he knows how to deal with the NIL fubar which for the time being is the future and serious change in the direction of college sports.
However our new President is a pretty serious hockey guy so that hopefully creates some balance and will keep things moving with our hockey programs in a positive direction. Besides the new arena I'd like to see our women's coach salary adjusted to be more comparable with the men's coach, based on performance she deserves it but that topic was discussed in a different thread on the long standing disparity between the salaries of coaches for women's sports vs men's sports.

The reading I did upon his hire said that he has no experience with hockey at all. Let's hope he sends all available resources to save the football program!!! Give Coach Day something to work with for heaven's sake!!!!!

I believe that loyalty to Nadine is very much the exception to the general rule. For most schools, if the sport is in the public eye, hanging judges outnumber the loyalists.

In the specific case of Ohio State Football: If you regularly beat Michigan, regularly win conference titles, and at least seriously contend for national titles, all is well and fine. But you better win a natty once in a while. Fall short of any of those objectives, and the aspiring executioners show up in droves.

Ryan Day has such a gaudy win percentage that those who perpetually favor firings are knocked a bit off balance. But then there are those losses to Michigan. If Ryan left tomorrow for whatever reason, you probably wouldn't see mass grave dancing. But I honestly think that the majority mindset would be that this is an opportunity to move up a notch. It is what it is.

indeed. he oversaw the absolute debacle that resulted in a former FB coach at Mississippi winning a defamation suit against the university and resulted in the FB coach resigning because he was using his university phone for calling escort services.

Then he fell upward and signed a contract with Jimbo Fisher that resulted in Fisher getting a $75 million(!!!!) payout when he was fired. Then he tried to bounce A&M into hiring a coach that only he liked, lost the confidence of all the boosters he excelled at shaking down for money, and fell upward again! Or, as a friend of mine who works at A&M said, "LMAO LMAO LMAO GOOD RIDDANCE. Wouldn't wish him on anyone...except Texas."

As someone whose team also doesn't have them on the schedule this year, I couldn't agree more. Always disturbing when I agree with a Wisconsin fan but such are the times...hehehe ;)

Not long after his hire was announced I read a story in the Dallas Star and in it not only A&M but they implied the entire state of Texas was thanking Ohio State profusely for getting him the hell out of there! God help us!

I'm not very convinced your are going to get your new rink with this shady fellow being your AD AND in the light of UM winning the Natty in FB.

You know from previous posts the new president is a hockey guy and he does outrank the new AD.
I assume at the conclusion of the season there will be news.

The 3 Stars of the UMD/UConn Game have now been posted. If you have an interest, check out the post on the Ohio State thread.
