WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

Re: WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

Is Jim Connelly purposely dissing the WCHA? Or does he just not know what basic college hockey terms mean?

"Well, there was no funny play, but two of those teams faced off with No. 4 Clarkson earning a two-game road sweep of Michigan Tech to enter the break with a 12-3-2 mark." I wasn't aware that a tie and a win constitute a sweep now.

"Indeed, Moise scored four times, twice each on Friday and Saturday, to help his team (Ferris State) earn a much-needed sweep of Alabama Huntsville." UAH won the shootout on Friday night, which means in no way could Ferris get a sweep.

Get it sorted out.

Re: WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

I don't see a separate BGSU thread, so I'll ask here:

It's game week! We have tickets for the Sat game, NMU @ BGSU (my daughter is currently a sophomore at Northern & my wife and I met while we went there (cough) a while ago). We are living near Fort Wayne, IN right now, but haven't been to BGSU yet for hockey.

So, my question is, any recommendations for a pregame dinner? Any reason to get to town early - i.e., anything we should see in Bowling Green or the surrounding area? Thanks in advance and looking forward to seeing a new rink...

Sam B’s is always terrific for dinner. A Stone’s Throw is also pretty good. Reverend’s has got good sandwiches and the like. And you can start the day Southern Style at the Waffle House, or Canadian style with Tim Horton’s (Best coffee in the league!).

Sam B’s is always terrific for dinner. A Stone’s Throw is also pretty good. Reverend’s has got good sandwiches and the like. And you can start the day Southern Style at the Waffle House, of Canadian style with Tim Horton’s (Best coffee in the league!).

Rev's (right next to Stone's Throw) is our pre-game hangout - one of the better places in town for craft brews. Since Myles closed, the best pizza in town is now up for debate but try 516 Pizza Pub. It's probably the closest to what Myles used to offer. The kids swear by the Campus Pollyeyes stuffed breadsticks. If you're looking for a venue for your Untappd Dive Bar badge, Brathaus is in a class by itself. It hasn't changed much in 40 years.

Students are on break until the end of January so you'll have the town to yourselves. If you venture up to Toledo (less than 30-minute drive) some downtown spots to check out are The Blarney and, of course, Tony Packo's (especially if you're old enough to remember M*A*S*H). Both of these are right by the Huntington Center/Fifth-Third Field complex. The original Packo's is across the river on Front Street but the downtown location is less sketchy for an out-of-towner. The Toledo Museum of Art is, surprisingly, one of the better art museums in the US. Save yourself some time and don't bother venturing over to the University. If you put all the chithole universities in a single room they would all agree that the University of Toledo is, without question, the chitholiest of them all.

Re: WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

For those of you going to Friday's NMU game at BG, the start time has been changed to 6:07 PM due to bouncy ball vs Kent State being televised on CBS Sports at 9:00 PM.

Re: WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

BG restaurants:

GastroPubs: Reverends or City Tap
BBQ: Pork Belly
Pizza: Campus Pollyeyes (Get the stuffed breadsticks) or Pisanellos
Coffee: Flatlands or Grounds for Thought

Re: WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

Well BG you have only yourselves to blame if you don't make it after that showing.

Re: WCHA 2019-20 season: We Can Do Better Than Two Bids and a First Round Exit

There's hope for my alma mater this weekend?

Not wild about the fact that we didn't get any games in over the break. BG at least got the rust knocked off and should be ready for Friday. Cats need to guard against a slow start.

Nah, I will wait until the "F" apostrophe "ing" Hawks have their way with the Chargers.....

And, I really shouldn't say much as my team pulled of a zero as well....
