WCHA 2017-18 Season

Re: WCHA 2017-18 Season

Gophers nudge out the Badgers as the pre-season favorite to win the league championship, and Grace Zumwinkle was named the league's preseason rookie of the year:

MSU is so bad they get 7th and 8th, but apparently the 7th place MSU is being penalized and made last as they have more points than the 7th place MSU team. Nice job there wWCHA people.

It will be fun to compare the outcomes of the S. Korean/wWCHA games, though each coach may treat the games differently. I think UW's first official practice is the day they play them.

Korea plays 5 WCHA teams in 11 days. I suspect the team that plays them last will have an advantage.

If you combine the points for MSU, they jump into 5th position.

Re: WCHA 2017-18 Season

The USCHO preseason poll has 3 WCHA teams in the top 5. Wisco at no. 2, Minnesota at no. 3 and UMD at no. 5.

Re: WCHA 2017-18 Season

UMD @ 5 is a joke. Who are these losers contributing in these polls?

Not only are they 5th in the USCHO preseason poll, they are also 5th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine College Hockey poll.

Maybe the question is...What are they seeing that an elite hockey mind like yourself, isn't? ;)

The BADgers' scoring struggles continue from last year's national championship, gaining only a 3-1 win at home over Lindenwouldn't while outshooting them 51-9. Not scoring at least 5 goals with that many shots isn't a great sign but I suppose a win is still a win no matter how ugly.

The BADgers' scoring struggles continue from last year's national championship,

That is a ridiculous statement. UW lost 60%+ of their scoring, it's not even close to being the same team with 8 new skaters, not including the 2 new goalies. Tilly gets a lot of the credit for the Clarkson win, I hold her way more responsible for the loss than UW's scoring ability. I do believe UW will have issues scoring this year with all the youth, and missing Clark, Pankowski and Shirley. At least their schedule is favorable for getting the players to gel a bit before the battle royal.

Ehhhhh idk, if it were me I'd be more concerned if they won like 5-0 but only outshoot them 30-20 or something. 51-9 implies a complete outclassing.
Lindenwouldn't
Oh well done A++
