Of course, the big take away from that article is...

"...They really did such a good job developing him at Alaska and now, at 22, he's turned into the player we projected him to be and we're obviously very pleased with how he's playing..."

Hated when we played against him, good riddance!

Good on him though, reminds me of Curtis Glencross but a brighter future as of right now.

Re: WCHA 2015-16: So here's what we think that we know...

I thought UAA paid the travel costs for coming up here? Or are you talking about hotel costs?

I believe the arrangement when the new league came together, and I could be wrong, was that Anchorage, Fairbanks and Huntsville don't pay for the full cost of travel. Each team figures out their most expensive trip outside of those three and then those three make up the difference between that trip and the trip to their barn.

As an example, if it cost BSU $15000 to travel to Alaska, and their most expensive non-three trip is $8,000, then Alaska would kick $7,000 BSU's way.

The way it works is that UAF, UAA, and UAH each have a set dollar amount that they pay all the other schools for travel. UAH pays Bemidji the same as they pay Bowling Green. There is a set figure that all schools get from Fairbanks. Another figure that all get from Anchorage and another figure that each gets from Huntsville. In addition, Fairbanks picks up the hotel and ground transport.

Re: WCHA 2015-16: So here's what we think that we know...

My plane ticket, purchased in July, was only $663 from Marquette. That, however, is much lower than it has ever been, generally in the $900-1200 range.
I tend to do most of my hockey travel on points / vouchers and my wife's airline travel benefits. I get to fly for cheap, but it is always stand-by so I run the risk of not getting there on time, or at all. I haven't had any issues recently knock on wood. For example my trip this weekend to MSU w/ two nights in a hotel, two day car rental, airfare and meals should be around $100. Unfortunately the points run out eventually so I can only do about two trips per year on that kind of budget. I wish ASU was similar but it appears hotels are going to kill the budget on that trip.

I've never flown to a hockey game yet, but that might change in a few weeks when I consider going to Bemidji. No points here, either :-/

Which jersey will you be wearing, so we can pick you out of the crowd of almost 400 MSU fans in attendance? ;):D

Re: WCHA 2015-16: So here's what we think that we know...

Actually I'm doing photography this weekend so no jersey allowed in the rink. (I was directed by Tech staff last season to not wear jerseys when in this capacity. I guess they feel it indirectly reflects on Tech, even though I'm doing the photography for another organization.) I wasn't the only Tech fan that got a wardrobe rebuke last season at the Final Five, however the other one that I saw take place was from Xcel staff and they were even less reasonable. ("I have a red sport coat so you will listen to every darn word I have to say!")

Anyway, so I now keep it semi-formal w/ MTU polo shirts. HOWEVER, I will certainly have a few various Tech game jerseys with me in the car and cash in my pockets should I find someone in the stands with a must have addition to the collection... Lots of Tech alumni downstate. You never know where that next jersey might surface!
:D

Yeah, if you're shooting photos, or working as a media member, its pretty much standard protocol to not wear jersey's... that draws the line between fan and media. We used to have a BG news student reporter who would wear a jersey in the press box. Only happened a few times before everyone told him to take it off.

I wear jeans and a polo/pullover and I feel underdressed most of the time.

My personal policy until the after the Final Five last year was I would normally get a ticket and the press pass and wear my jersey in my seat during the game and take off the jersey, run to the press box during intermission and get the stat sheets/shot charts and go back to my seat...That worked great for me until the Final Five.
