WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

Oh...and merry Christmas to all of you degenerates down south from all of us degenerates up here.

I'm fortunate to have spent a good portion of my adult life in the college hockey business. Ive gotten to visit all of the schools (except CC) in the western leagues. The best part of it all is the fans. Your passion for the game and your schools is amazing! No matter where we go, it's always great to meet and interact with the hometown fans. The best part of the shuffle has been getting to experience Bemidji & Mankato, Huntsville & Amchorage. You fans are what makes the whole experience special.

I agree. The new WCHA has a camaraderie that didn't exist in the CCHA. This conference isn't without its issues, but the fans are solid at every school.

And though there may be travel difficulties from time to time, they make for great stories that'll be told years later!

No kidding. It's not our fault Marquette is in the middle of nowhere. :D

When busses break down, it's usually four in the morning and it's in the middle of nowhere. Lots of good stories from the days in the minors. But they get better when sitting down with old hockey buddies, a few cold ones and a few years to let the stories grow.

Hope everyone's having a good end of the year. I'm in NoVA, which makes for the farthest north that I've been at Christmas since Bush 41 was President. I won't be at the VBC this weekend, and I probably won't even get to watch Saturday's game, because we'll probably start back home that night. Sorry to miss you, Alaska Hockey —*I planned the extension on this trip without thinking about hockey at all, and I can't change plans on the girlfriend's family.

All I wanted for Christmas was four WCHA teams in the tournament: Tech, Mankato, BG, and UAH when we run the tournament on the back of Carmine Guerriero. We could be the first single-digit team in the tournament!

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

You do know that she never said that, don't you? That was Tina Fey on SNL.
Correct that she never said she could see Russia from her house, but, Palin opened herself up to the lampooning by responding to a question about what Palin knew about them by living so close to the other country. Her response:
"They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

Now, I'm not quite sure what she learned about Russian politics by boating out to the Aleutian Islands with a pair of binoculars to stare at the vast Siberian coast; and that's why Tina Fey mocked her.

Nah--we'll win three more games before the tourney. Add the four WCHA playoff wins and we'll have 10. ;)

It's fun to be wishful! :)

For a guy who lives or lived in a state that is smaller than two of the boroughs in the state of Alaska must have slept thru the class on Alaska. As you would have had to barge out Paul Bunyan’s binoculars to attempt to see Russia from the Aleutians. Good try Flat Lander……. But from Little Diomede you could see Big Diomede Russia 2.4 miles away with your Hello Kitty binoculars that you got for Christmas.

as a Michigander, I feel we know more about Canadians than, say Georgians, or New Mexicans. I'm sure Arizonans know more about Mexico than we do. I makes sense to me Alaskans would know more about Russians. at least Siberians. that said, is there travel between Russia and Alaska? I'm sure there wasn't during the USSR days, but has it opened up since the early 90's? are there ferry crossings? can private boats come and go between countries? are there quick airline flights?

Nope no planes to the East coast , and will be met with armed Russian milatary if try to paddle across. The only quick flight is a helicopter from Nome to Little Diomede. Bring a lot of money as nothing is cheap in that part of the country and you will be sleeping on somebody's floor as no hotel or flophouse for you to stay in. But you both lack some education about the 50 states in America.
