That would have been mildly funnier if I actually had known my better half when I moved to Los Anchorage.
Any idea what divorces cost these days?
Just a question.
Try taking her back to the berg on the edge of nowhere.
No, don't, you're not that cruel or dumb even if you do have to rely on the UA_ Super Computer.

So isn't it about time we speculate on who finishes last? we have a number of candidates but my money is on UAA. Even if they did sweep last week.

Lake State's on a hot streak, but I think they'll cool down just in time to be our auto-bid for the Futile Four.

I think that we need more data. I mean, all three schools looked bad —*with UAH looking least bad of them all, save the putrid weekend in Bemidji — and then last week happened, and ... Let's talk again when the calendar turns to January OOPS, FEBRUARY.

I don't think it'll be UAA. They have 12 conference games left, while UAH and LSSU each have 10, which works to UAA's advantage in a tight race.

Here are the final games for each of those teams:

LSSU: @BG, @UAF, vs. UAH, @NMU, vs. FSU
UAH: @MTU, @LSSU, vs. FSU, vs. UAF, @BG
UAA: @NMU, @MSU, vs. MTU, @BSU, vs. BG, vs. UAF

The schedule sets up best for UAA. They are much better playing at home, and two of their three road series have good opportunities for points (don't see them doing much at Mankato). Plus they have two extra games to get points.

There's a decent chance the UAH/LSSU series will go a long way in deciding who stays home.

It's also worth noting that UAH wins a tiebreaker over UAA.

I had contemplated putting together my prediction spreadsheets in time for this weekend, but that didn't happen. Alas. Anyhow, one thing that's worth looking at: the table commingled with the schedule.

Now obviously there's no way for everyone to win out; however, I think that we can look at it and say, "Well, how do these teams rank compared to the teams above and below them?" What's clear to me is something that has probably seemed true for a while:

1. The top echelon is Mankato-BG-Tech, regardless of HTH results.
2. Ferris has an edge on Northern due to better goaltending, more league wins, two games in hand, and not, you know, having a head coaching situation.
3. Bemidji could leapfrog Northern into 5th (again, Kyle + Dahlström ...) with their special sauce and maybe give Ferris a run, despite being at a current points disadvantage.
4. Throw a blanket over UAA-UAH-LSSU and let the one with the most bruises out.

Does this meet with our conceptions? Yes, but it takes into the reality of "you can only get so many points". I mean, UAH would have to win every game and have Mankato lose every game just to pass them in the standings. But with uneven schedules to-date — BG has two more games-in-hand than anyone else, and four more than half the league —*the standings table is not as clear as you'd like. Worse still, BG burns two of those games this weekend, but they do so against LSSU, who will have just four WCHA weekends left after this one. I'd claim similar confusion with Alaska, but they don't matter playoff-wise.

My predictions should come next week. It'll be slow at work.

UAA also is the only one of the 3 to play all 3 of the top tier teams. LSSU only plays 1 of the top tier, while UAH plays 2 of them.

Ok Mavs... Your turn. What a great effort! Very über cool!

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

Would have been a perfect night of hockey, if not for NMU choking. Still, Tech wins, LSSU beats BGSU, and we get an all WCHA Northstar Cup? I'll be alright with that outcome.

How wasn't this a perfect night of hockey again? ;)
