So in other words 80% of this board? They may have lost a lot but the argument can still be made they're ahead of everybody but UND, SCSU and UMD going into the season.

DU has one of the best returning defenses in the WCHA, and some proven WCHA scorers return as well - Maiani, Ostrow, Martin, etc. They also have a top level recruiting class, at least on paper - Bennet, Zucker, N. Shore, and Sam Brittian. The big question mark for the Pioneers is offensive depth and goaltending. This program has been a pretty consisent top 5 WCHA performer for a while now, and if they can get a little goaltending to go with a proven defense, they could be very tough to beat, especially with eight seniors on the roster. I see them as an upper half team - not likely good enough to win the league this year, but a very dangerous team to play. Ignore them at your peril.

You have to love the preseason. Colorado College fans crawling out of their cockroach infested caves to impart wisdom on what it takes to win hardware, trophies and championships. :D

UNO only 10th? Wow.

I think they make it to 8th and maybe as high as 6th place.

Maybe, but around here they're gonna have to earn the respect. A middle of the pack CCHA team isn't going to be treated as a middle of the pack WCHA team by WCHA fans

A middle of the pack ccha team with several new players that prefer the new coaches playing style and hopefully work ethic and the best coaching staff around should make a difference. The Mavs have played in michigans barn they can hand anyone else's fans.

That's why they play the games. Still think that UNO will make some noise in the WCHA. The CCHA was not that bad of a conference (except for the profoundly incapable refs). The level of competition was high. The fan noise at CCHA barns is about the same as the WCHA. They will finish higher than 10th.

Better to be underestimated. Makes our guys have something to fight harder for.

Having been to nearly every barn in both the CCHA and WCHA, in my opinion, there isn't much of a comparison. The WCHA has bigger, better and louder barns than the CCHA.

I'm one that thinks UNO will compete for home ice, but they are going to have to get used to playing in much more intimidating arenas in their first season.

Please. UNO is in for a rude awakening in their first year as part of a real league as in the WCHA it's not three good teams and then a bunch of garbage. From what I've seen of him, the only thing bigger than John Faulkner's five hole is the gap between Blais' teeth.
