Warm thoughts is all we's gots!

Re: Warm thoughts is all we's gots!

From my perspective it seems that school admin's can't win this war....

They cancel, people play this card. When the weather makes people slightly alter their routine (snow on the ground is 100% passable, but you can't drive at Mach 3.4) they scream to high heaven... This was apparent on Monday with Chicago's whopping 4-5 inches of snow with wind... Facebook was lit up with people whining because there was snow on the ground in the school parking lots.

I work at what is generally considered "my" building. A satellite building off the main business. Have one co-worker, who overlaps shifts. Asked him about deliveries today, there were none. Our main building shuttle van was outside all night at the main building, and was DOA this morning (so we had to pick orders for customers coming to pick up stuff). Bonus part of ALL of that: I parked inside in our dock space today. Win. :)

He actually didn’t, he’s been following me around. Finally got him to pee outside 20 mins ago
Glad he finally went. My dog needed encouragement yesterday. Our backyard access is via a deck with a flight of stairs down to the yard. She went on the deck, but didn't go down the stairs yesterday morning. Husband encountered same thing when he let her out during the day. I got home around 4 and same. Finally I went and got a sweatshirt and some shoes and stood out on the deck encouraging her, she finally went out in the yard. The deck made some loud cracking noises from the cold, so I can see how she may have been scared.
It was even colder this morning, but she wasn't phased by it this time.

I thought it was cold at -15 this morning. Then I heard Minneapolis was -31 and it didn’t feel quite as bad.

Glad it’s supposed to warm up after today. Car had a lot more trouble starting this morning than yesterday. Though keep in mind “warmer” is still a low of 0 overnight.

I woke up t o-30 this morning, actually colder than yesterday. The catch is that there was no wind, and so it actually felt warmer for the two minutes I was outside. Still, I'm working from home. Taking the bus into work today? F dat noise.

Re: Warm thoughts is all we's gots!

It was 10 here at sunrise, crisp and cloudless. Perfect pond hockey weather. It felt great.

I hope all you poor bastids get out of the sub-zeros soon. What the heck is it in Sault Ste. Marie, -50?

Edit: I checked, it's -1. Think about that: Fargo and Minneapolis are 30 degrees colder than Lake State right now.

The big lake keeps places like Marquette and Sault Ste Marie warmer than other locations in the UP.

Amasa, MI (where the NCAA purchases their bouncyball courts from every year) is generally the coldest spot in the UP.

From the "Monumentally Bad Timing" Department:

Consumers natural gas plant in Macomb caught fire. They're dipping into reserve supplies while it's fixed. Most of MI is being advised to set the thermostat to 65 to conserve supplies.
