Vermont Catamounts Season Thread 2025-2026: Go Cats Go or No Cats No?

G Cullen DeYoung, Sacred Heart goalie in transfer portal last season, is a mid season add likely in response to the Oster out for the season. Hasn't played in Fall but he's got experience.

Stinks about Oster getting injured in preseason. If you want a source on the injury, he was interviewed during the 1st intermission for the Oshawa Generals game on December 14th, starts around 44 minutes. Doesn't mention if it's for the season but adding DeYoung is an indication it might be true. Oster sounds like he's having a good time being around the team and settled into school regardless.

Guindon I think will adapt and be successful but I'm not too surprised it is taking him a bit to adjust. Some freshman figure it out in the second half or by the end of the year.

At least a little! They've given solid efforts now in 5 of their last 6. They dominated the ice with Merrimack but Mangbo stinks. Beating BU at BU is a nice win, and giving them a game in the first night was a solid performance.

Northeastern was a nice weekend for sure. Might be feeling very different about the season if they didn't have the simply unacceptable losses to SLU and Army, but lets see if they can keep it up against a good but not great UCONN team.

Nice win today for sure. If the out of town scores hold, I believe we will be in sole possession of the 6th spot in HE.

The Conn announcers were saying that the team was suffering from the flu - why Mango was in last night. Also said Oster blew out his knee to start the season - which I am not sure we knew, and isn't great but makes sense.

Massachusetts next weekend at home, no more stupid penalties and start Wright twice, then two at Stonehill.

I’ve had my doubts about Wiedler et al. But being in 6th heading into a brief soft part of the skedule is pretty uplifting. Someone did flag on this board recently that oster got season ending injury in preseason

4 weekend road HE series this year and the Cats have split all 4. Would like to see that consistent play at home with the schedule favorable it would be nice to see a home playoff game again.
