One thing that keeps making me wonder is, how will the CHL player production translate into the new league?
There obviously isn't any real frame of reference considering this year is the first year of all the new rules, but that doesn't need to stop me/us from trying to logic it out (via speculating heavily).
Braeden Cootes was picked 15th in the draft in 2025, he's an average sized center at 6'0 185. He scored 63 points in 60 games in the WHL last year in his 17-18 year old draft year.
Cole Reschny was picked 18th in 2025, and is 5'11". He scored 92 in 62 in the WHL.
Justin Carbonneau was picked 19th in 2025 and scored 89 in 62 in the Q.
So where am I going with this?
Well, between the three of them, they averaged 81 points a season and had an average draft position of 17th.
Well, that sounds VERY comparable to Guindon who had 85 in 66, and at least pretty close to Burroughs who had 76 in 68. I think it's reasonable to believe/hope that Guindon and Burroughs put up scoring numbers at least similar to someone who was drafted around 17th.
Which brings me to other comparables:
Sacha Boisvert was drafted 18th last year and went to NODAK, he's a bit bigger in size, but he finished with 32 points.
Matthew Wood was drafted 15th in 2023, he put up 34 points in his first year at UConn.
Rutger McGroarty was drafted 14th over all and he put up 39 points his freshman year at U Michigan.
That's an average of 35 points, from a draft position of 15.6.
Now the NCAA is going to be better - guys like Guindon and Burroughs weren't in it, and now they are. But I've only seen one recruiting class that can make a claim that it's on paper better than UVM's (Clarkson). I think 30 points is a very reasonable expectation based on what these guys have done in the past.

I saw we are getting David Sacco, the leading scorer from Merrimack who had 9 goals and 0 assists last year. Anyone know if he does anything more than just snipe?
They also mention Matteo Michels who had 55 points with the Wheat Kings in the WHL good for 4th on his team. Given everyone else they have brought in, that doesn't seem that seems like he will play but not that impressive, no?
