Uw @ und

Re: Uw @ und

You realize Jim Archibald might be in the building.

oh man perfect! Butters can handle Archibald. And maybe since Cheli and Driver are retired they can attend and lend a hand if necessary. After all, the Wioux outnumbered the Badgers in that water bottle fight like 300 to 1 from the looks of the video

That video never gets old......PB and Howie remind me of Jim Carr in Slapshot. I'm sure I posted before that I was there. I was just above the 2nd tunnel and saw players disappear into the beer garden. I've heard rumours that cops saw sparks from skates on that smooth concrete floor. (Never confirmed, tho!) That was one of the events that I will never forget!!

Re: Uw @ und

Between '78 and '84, I lived in the SF bay area and, without internet, was really removed from the college hockey culture. When I moved to Wisconsin in '84, I could not believe the intensity of the Sioux/Badger rivalry. But as intense as it was, it seemed to be a mutually respectful and fun rivalry. Had the same things happened between the Sioux and the Gophers during those years, I'll hazard to guess that there would have been a lot more acrimony and plain old nastiness.

There's still plenty of hate in the UND/UW rivalry, though, so the universe is still in order. Badgers still suck.

Re: Uw @ und

What a cute photo and maybe just a little provocative... ;)

Unfortunately, just like the vast majority of North Dakotans, when faced with the incredible boredom and hopelessness of their everyday lives, these young ladies turned to meth.

Wanting to help others to not follow in their footsteps, 2 months after the first photo, they agreed to recreate the shot for a public service awareness campaign. Kinda sad really. :(

I have to admit I've always been a little alarmed at the bottomless supply of photos of meth addicts Wisconsin fans have at the ready for photoshop purposes.

I was actually disappointed in how little there was on Google.

Funny that Eddie Van Halen comes up under a search for "Faces of Meth" though. :D

Re: Uw @ und

So, with this code of conduct which I have heard of but not actually read (I don't need a code of conduct to tell me important things like not to pea in a cup at your seat, pea directly on the floor), are the Sioux still going to butcher the National Anthem? Afterall the word "Sioux" is a no-no, right?
FYP and yes they will...

Re: Uw @ und

Indeed. It will be nice to play teams like WMU who won't hurt your PWR ranking just by playing them. UND is on the edge of the NCAA tournament right now and beating the crap out of a Huntsville level program this weekend won't help them at all.

What happened earlier in the season at the Kohl Center...? So it helps the (insert nickname) that they haven't yet beaten this Huntsville level team this season? Didn't know the PWR rewarded losing to the supposed dregs of college hockey. Learned something new today!

it sure doesn't and I love the commentary. Actually in the book "Shot and a Goal" Rob Andringa confirms your memory of sparks flying from skates off the concrete as those whioux cretins came running back out to 2-1 or 3-1 some badger players.

of course, neither Archibald nor Eades had the guts to go after Chelios or Driver, they went after smaller players...that figures

A little revisionist history? If you look closely at the video, Chelios and Driver were holding on to each other in the corner of the box-gopherlike. It's probably followed them all these years.

Re: Uw @ und

wow guys, this rivaly is dead isn't it? 3 pages? 3 lousy pages?

the st. cloud malamute vs. whioux thread is @ least 11...
eesh

Re: Uw @ und

Any TV for those of us in WI with Dish network? I couldn't find anything, but I have been known to miss it before....

Re: Uw @ und

All the BADger fans are busy practicing their dance moves, or worrying about bouncy ball, they have no time for actual hockey!

Re: Uw @ und

It should be on A Fox College Sports Channel.

Most Sioux games are on Charter Digital 301, 302 or 303 here in Madison.

Haven't checked, but am expecting to see the game tonight.
