UW-Stout Regular Season Thread 2010-2011: We're still here

Re: UW-Stout Regular Season Thread 2010-2011: We're still here

Stout looked a little better than I thought. Leskovich looked sharped.

We came out flying in the second period and played right with them. Had a bunch of good opportunities and lets not forget the hitting.

Can you tell us a little more as to how you all thought the game went last night. After seeing the teams first games I was worried that Green Knights might really make it lop sided. The shots on goal were pretty much Norberts but I didn`t watch the game so I was interested in what you saw. Was it a case where we played well or St Norbert was as the coach said in the post game show still i preseason mode and not warmed up yet, still getting the cobwebs off their scoring machine. As a side note don`t you find Coghlin uppity and coky? Did they look rusty and we looked better/improved? What was your impression, I guess we will find out better tonight if we woke the sleeping giant.

Stout gave up an early goal, but after that they settled into the plan they had. Although SNC had more shots, we had some good hits, and a few good chances. In the third period both teams had some good chances. The third goal was a fluke, but I thought that Stout played very well, and SNC kind of came out slightly flat. Tonight will be a good indication of how both teams will play for this season, after the NCHA opener last night.

What are you reasons for feeling Coach Coghlin is uppity and cocky? Or do you feel that way cuz he usually outcoaches your coach and his team?

Re: UW-Stout Regular Season Thread 2010-2011: We're still here

The stat sheet from last nights contest is certainly deceiving. UW-Stout dominated CSS through two periods though they were out shout heavily in the contest. This is mostly due to the seven penalties the Devils' were assessed, including a 5-minute major. Face-offs, blocking shots, clogging up the neutral zone etc. It was all working through two periods. Then in the 3rd it seemed like Stout got complacent and sat on their heels a bit thinking six goals on their part would be enough leading 6-2. As soon as they dialed back and tried to play a more defensive game they started giving up goals. One goal for CSS was a beautiful cycle by the saints which allowed the third man in the cycle to step out all alone in the slot and snipe a beautiful goal. However, if were talking beautiful goals the goal of the night has to go to Chris Stafne. Shorthanded he dangles around two Saints defenders, comes across the slot holding onto the puck, soon as Sullivan went down Stafne backhanded it top cheddar and it went c-bar down for the SHG. A pretty goal.

I think you'll see a very closely contested battle tonight as CSS knows they need to come away with some conference points. Should be a good one tonight at the Dunn!

Any word of any of the suspended players coming back soon via the apeal process by chance?

Re: UW-Stout Regular Season Thread 2010-2011: We're still here

I spoke with one of the suspended players last night and he said they have been denied twice but keep appealing over and over. He basically said they are fighting it to no end.

UW-Stout unveiled the new intro song for the 2010-2011 season last night at the Dunn Co - http://www.stouthockey.com/2010/11/new-intro-song-for-2010-2011/

Song: Linkin Park - The Catalyst
God bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfoght
It can't be outdone
It can't out matched
It can't be outrun
No

God bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfoght
It can't be outdone
It can't out matched
It can't be outrun
No

And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light
(God bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
Oh)
Like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky

God save us everyone,
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
For the sins of our hand
The sins of our tongue
The sins of our father
The sins of our young
No

God save us everyone,
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
For the sins of our hand

The sins of our tongue
The sins of our father
The sins of our young
No

And when I close my eyes tonight
To symphonies of blinding light
(God save us everyone,
Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
Oh)
Like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky

Like memories in cold decay
Transmissions echoing away
Far from the world of you and I
Where oceans bleed into the sky

Lift me up
Let me go (x10)

God bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfoght
Can't be outdone
It can't out matched
It can't be outrun
No

God bless us everyone
We're a broken people living under loaded gun
And it can't be outfoght
Can't be outdone
It can't out matched
It can't be outrun

Stout looked pretty good tonight. Only giving up a few penalties as compared to last night. If they can stay out of the box they can most def. compete.
