UW @ SCSU "The Christmas Series"; Red, White, and Green between the Pipes

Huskies Fans: vote for Nic Dowd to win the "bobblehead" competition from his former team here: http://wenatcheewild.pointstreaksites.com/view/wenatcheewild/wenatchee-wild-5914

Wisco and any other fans: if you can take the 10 secs to vote we would appreciate it. Just think of the fun your student sections could have with this the next time you play the Huskies! He's 8 votes behind at the time of this posting, time to rally!

As for hockey talk, if Faragher plays like he did Friday night the Huskies have a good chance of sweeping. If the entire team plays like the did in the 3rd period Sat night, they have a great chance! Biggest concern is Wisco scoring a lot of goals and while much improved already we have a young defense.

You guys got embarassed last year in an atrocious year for us and you now have freshmen goaltenders and nobody with any talent that's of drinking age out of Wisconsin and you're not only gonna sweep but your freshmen are gonna keep SCSU to four goals at home on the weekend? Huskies top that Friday night.

The series played late last season at the NHC was a route for St. Cloud, especially the Senior Night game on Saturday. Gudmundson got pulled and he looked absolutely shell-shocked that last game.

Gotta agree with you considering Becky lost more talent last year to early-signings and graduation than St. Cloud. I think St. Cloud's early losses this season can be greatly attributed to not having any exhibition games (as opposed to their opponents) and long road travel primarily the first two weekends.

Home-cooking for the Husckeys means 4 points for St. Cloud in the WCHA standings!:)

With all due respect, what happened last year does not mean squat. The Huskies need to take the Badgers very seriously. These are crucial points and we need to get back above. 500 hockey. The Huskies have some areas where they need serious improvements. Looking forward to some good games. Getting an early lead will be important to get the crowd into it and hopefully rattle UW's youth. Keep in mind, while Bucky has a young crew, they are very talented. You can bet that the upper class-men remember last years embracing losses and will be hungry to prove themselves.

"Embracing losses"? Yeah, there probably was a lot of 'clutch and grab' going on in an attempt to slow down the high-flying Husckeys!:D

St. Cloud sweeps.

Those were embracing losses... I embraced them thoroughly.

No, the past doesn't mean squat, but its a good measuring stick. Anchorage has never won at the NHC... it doesn't mean they can't, but its saying historically the next time they come into our building they'll have a difficult time coming up with a W unless there's been a major changing of the guard. Last year we handed it to a better UW team than we will see this weekend, and we didn't have near the losses they did over the offseason. Is 4 points guaranteed? No. But if they play SCSU hockey this weekend, they catch the Badgers in points with 4 games in hand and the tie-breaker.

Thanks. My use of embracing was embarrassing.

I want a sweep as bad as anyone. Just don't want fans to think we are entitled to 4 points here. We need to earn 2 points before we can starting talking about going for 4.

And I'd say that's exactly the attitude I need to have... if I plan on lacing up any skates this weekend. But I'll be listening to the games. I don't feel "entitled," but if I did, nothing wrong with that. Especially when it happens.

Hey, when's UWisco coming back to tell us about how great the Badgers have been since the beginniing of time.... like 10 years ago? Anybody know what time 7th period gym gets done?

Do me a favor and answer me this... How old were you when UW last swept in the NHC?

In college sports, history doesn't mean crap with the turnover of players.

And so what if UAA has never won there, when is the last time they had a more talented team than the huskies? Maybe never?

Ask any sue fan if they thought they were gonna lose a game to UW a few weeks back. There was no way on paper UW was going to sweep, UW was hard pressed to maybe win 1 game on paper. I think most UW fans were hoping just not to get embarrassed that weekend.

So go ahead and enjoy the rest of your week counting on a sweep, don't even bother watching or checking the box score until Monday am, there's no need to. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

That post served multiple purposes, but one was to point out the nonsense of someone chest-beating about how UW was gonna come in and sweep on the road when that clearly hasn't been the case in the recent past and nobody has really come up with any reason why they would all of the sudden sweep this coming weekend with as raw and young of a team as they come (even for UW standards).

Who gets swept by Tech, then sweeps UND? In the end, Forest did ok for himself, here's to hoping UW does too.

odds are this is a split

however, don't put it past UW to come in and sweep either. if you haven't seen them the last 2 weeks, they've got more talent than what they've shown the first 2 weeks and they're just now coming around/beginning to play together and w/in the systems

And don't put it past SCSU to sweep either. Faragher was good last weekend for sure, but part of that was also SCSU's really young blueline coming together and honestly being better thatn we expected them to be at this point in the season. Eddy's yet to score a goal this season and that's not gonna last forever, and we really don't even have any freshman forwards contributing too much offensively at this point because tonight we'll be one of I am guessing not many if any WCHA teams that will roll out their top three teams without a single freshman.

SCSU's veteran players > UW's NHL talent, at least at this point in the season

I am putting it past them. They are on the road and they aren't very good. We're happy for ya that you swept the Sioux at home. That doesn't make you a contender for the MacNaughton.

In a series between SCSU and UW, I think the most credible source is a guy named "Tipsy." I believe every word he says, but Huskies take 4 points, 'cause c'mon, the guy's Tipsy, his math is gonna be off.
