UVM Catamounts 2019/20

Re: UVM Catamounts 2019/20

Very fast paced fun game to watch. Biggest differences I saw were the forwards driving to the net with the puck rather carrying it into the corner, more passes to players in open ice, and players passing while they were skating. Much better passing in general; passes instead of shooting the puck at each. And Lekkas was awesome.

Plus I got a new Vermont Hockey sweatshirt and UVM is undefeated when I wear it.

This shows how much of sports is mental and the relief of just playing the game frees up abilities. With both coaches and players having no pressure they upset the number 13 team not once but twice! The mental part of the game is also the main part of what coaches facilitate.

Something changed this weekend. It was up to the coaching staff to facilitate this at the beginning of the season, and they didn’t. Misley and Esposito specifically played to their respective expectations this weekend. I hope the next coach taps into the talent, skill, and work ethic these players have early next season.

Congrats UVM. We've had our ups & downs this year but no complaints from this NU fan. That is sports.
UVM hockey def has better days ahead; nice wknd.

Re: UVM Catamounts 2019/20

Was great watching the players win battles for the puck. Congratulations on taking 4 points from a team that desperately needed them. Looking forward to next season and no longer sitting on 2x10s. Good luck to the seniors. Be nice to see Lekkas get added to the Stanley Cup some day. It has been fun watching him stand on his head to keep the team in games. I thought he should have been the 1st star last night.

Great weekend of hockey Catamount fans!! The UNH 'Cats unfortunately couldn't take advantage of UVM's four-point weekend and leap ahead of NU. In all likelihood, we'll be joining you in the off-season after next weekend, barring a miracle.

Kudos to Coach Sneddon, at least he can retire on a high note. A class act.

One more year on the 2x10s. Renovations won’t be completed until 2021.

Good weekend. They shot better and won the battles in front of the net. Not a good team, but were snake-bitten a bit this year.

Re: UVM Catamounts 2019/20

Hey, what’s the story with the kid last night scoring the first 2 pts?

Re: UVM Catamounts 2019/20

.....The candidates he listed were Barr (UMass asst), Cam Ellsworth (Norwich), Kris Mayotte (Michigan asst), Tim Whitehead (former Maine coach who is coaching a prep school I think), David Lassonde (Dartmouth asst), Josh Hauge (Clarkson asst), Ben Syer (Cornell asst), Joe Dumais (Quinnipiac asst), Eric Lang (AIC), Keith Fisher (Penn St asst), Gary Heenan (Utica), Fred Harbinson (Penicton BCHL), Anthony Noreen (Tri City USHL), Peter Mannino (Des Moines USHL) and Seth Appert at USNDT and former RPI coach.
.
I have no idea what UVM's short list will look like, but here's what Heenan has been up to at Utica with his 23-2-2 squad as they continue the push toward NCAA's: 7 players with 20+ points. 6 players with 10+ goals, plenty of speed and outstanding goaltending. #1 in Pairwise #3 in country. I sure would bring him in for a looooong talk....all the guy does is build winning teams. (Note: I am not related to, nor do I represent him ! Ha ha.)

He was a prized UVM basketball recruit from Indiana who suffered a traumatic brain injury his senior year of high school...literally had to learn to walk and talk again. UVM coaches did a genuinely remarkable thing and honored his schaloarship -- when and if he was able to attend college.

4+ years later, they honored him last might for his long recovery ...he suited up and started the game for the Cats vs. UAlbany. He'll graduate this May.

Re: UVM Catamounts 2019/20

It's over. It's finally over.

Has to be one of the most brutal seasons of hockey I've ever witnessed. 2011-2012 is the only one that might have been worse. Really excited for this offseason to begin. Looking forward to hearing some rumors on this coaching search, although we'll probably have to wait for real news until teams wrap up in April.
