UVM 2017/18: A Gutt Check

Re: UVM 2017/18: A Gutt Check

Evers was great Friday, and has said to be a standout in practice. Love to know the reason why they chose to sit him. Other than seeing what the second group can do.

Injury news in the latest Ted Ryan piece:

-Dzhioshvili underwent surgery for a lower body injury, will be out for several weeks
-Evers is day-to-day (which probably explains his absence Saturday)

If anyone knows Dzhioshvili he needs to get these crutches: https://www.amazon.com/Mobilegs-Ult...sr=8-1-spons&keywords=crutches+mobilegs&psc=1

Saw him at the game on Saturday with the top of his crutches padded with ace bandages.

Re: UVM 2017/18: A Gutt Check

Some thoughts, I'll probably blog tomorrow since I also have to do the preview for Tuesday's women's game (it's their home opener btw)...

-I'm okay with playing Thomas; better to breed him into the team early. But Evers should not have been the guy to see the press box. I would've gone Moriarty, personally. But that's just my $.02

-I'm also not a fan of the Alvaro-Misley-Petruzzelli line. Misley is a skilled playmaker. Alvaro and Rico are mostly grinders. I feel like if you flipped Misley onto the line with Puffer and Cowans (skill guys) and Coughlin onto the line with Alvaro and Rico, you probably get a bit more out of that second line.

Well, looks like Sneddon's on the same wavelength; Evers is healthy and playing (as is Thomas) and Moriarty sits; Misley with Privy and Puff and Coughlin with Rico and Alvaro.

Sneddon also noted he’s looking to keep lines together to give time to “gel”. That would be a great change in coaching philosophy imo. And yes, it would be a change from seasons past.

Travis maybe? Haven't seen him in a bit. I probably shouldn't rag on the announcers....everything's good when the stream is free :-)

Re: UVM 2017/18: A Gutt Check

An OTL to Q isn't the end of the world - they're a pretty good team this year, much better than last.

On to Union tomorrow.

As a whole we look messed up tbh. Without Lekkas and some posts it would be 6-1 QU.

I’m just amazed that a division 1 college hockey coach doesn’t seem to understand the value of keeping lines together. This happens literally every year. An injured forward should not result in complete upheaval. We start every game at a disadvantage to teams with cohesive structure. Lekkas kept us from complete embarrassment this afternoon. He’s been great.

That goalie beat us last year in Belfast and came close tonight. He can play and when you watch his head during action in his end he is focused. Head on a swivel following action. UVM will have solid net minding this season good luck my brother was a catamount!!

We're literally three games into the season, perhaps he's trying to determine who clicks together. That's what a coach does.

Back in the win column.

Didn't watch (I had it on the radio because screw paywalls), anyone watch? Did any players stand out for better or worse?

I watched. Lekkas was great. Evers and OD as well. Very sloppy game all around. Hoping Bowen and Misley aren't injured and their absence is just Sneddon being Sneddon. Maybe we'll have some set lines in Feb.

I think Misley was hurt - I didn't see much of him during the Q game yesterday. Bowen was probably a healthy scratch, he looked lost on Q's second goal, could've played the body but didn't...

Good to hear the top pair is playing well.

How did Brian Kelly look?
