Utica College Pioneers 2011-2012

Re: Utica College Pioneers 2011-2012

Did UC stink it up tonight, or what?

The D-play was atrocious, Adams being especially awful (he seems to think he's still playing in the SUNYAC), but there's plenty of blame to go around.

The 2nd goal was on a 4 on 2 rush (bad change?), but the 3rd and 4th were instances of M'ville forwards walking right through UC for point-blank shots.

Worst game in a "mental" sense I've seen from Utica in a long while, but give credit to MC, they came to play and flew around like missiles all night long.

Most players leave Platty because the cannot handle the dicipline and therefore get less playing time! Thats why he isn't playing in SUNYAC any more!

Umm no you are waaaayyyyyy wrong. Cody left because Utica had his major that he needs to get his job after college. Had nothing to do with how he handled Plattsburgh. I will say however that Plattsburgh plays a tougher schedule so the whole "thinks he's in the SUNYAC" is as big of a joke as any. Cody has played in more NCAA games then the whole Utica team combined.....probably played more road games as well....

I agree! Adams left the Cards because the major he wanted was not offered at Plattsburgh. I was sorry to see him go. He was a good defensive defenseman for us. Good kid, too!....Volunteered with the Plattsburgh Youth Hockey program while at PSU.

I mis-spoke in this case, but as I stated "most" leave because of Playing time. And I still don't get the whole SUNYAC statement that started this whole thing. When Plattsburgh and Oz were still members of the ECAC West they were two of the most dominant teams there as well as SUNY!

Because the ECAC West doesnt have that low tier set of teams like the SUNYAC does. When you play in the ECAC West you are playing decent teams in conference every game. How good they are is on a personal opinion it wojld be like replacing the bottom 3 SUNY teams and replacing them with 3-5. I dont think it is a league of Oswegos or Plattsburghs buts its not a league of Brockports and Potsdams either.

Elmira was very happy to get Justin Joy from Plattsburgh, we all know what he did while playing for Elmira, right M'Ville;) ?

Very nice turn around tonight. Heenan must've cracked some heads after last night's debacle. :)

The box says UC scored on all three of their 3rd period shots. Don't think I've ever heard of that happening before.

A much-needed win, at any rate. Its pulse is thready, yet the hope for home-ice clings to life... But just barely.

I figure Utica will have to win out (Neumann twice and at Elmira) to have a shot. Very tall order, especially the "at Elmira" part.

Yes, that's what I meant, thanks.

OSU and PSU are obviously elite programs on a national level, but the SUNYAC drops off precipitously after them. I think the W is 21-4 against everyone else in the SUNYAC... On the other hand, there are simply no easy nights in the ECAC-W, no matter who you play

I didn't mean to pick on Adams, but he just hasn't seemed to be able to adjust to the night-in, night-out speed of the W. He's been a liability in conference play.

Actually I believe they are 21-7. Great and all but of those 21 wins, nearly 65% of them have come against the bottom of the SUNYAC. Over half of the SUNYAC wins over ECAC West have come against the bottom half as well....

And as I said Cody played probably a harder schedule in his previous year and was one of the best at Plattsburgh. If he would have come from another SUNY school I might see your argument but Cody proved he could play with the best last year. Part of me thinks Cody is having a harder time adjusting to Utica and probably has his heart somewhere else. I know there was another big PSU transfer a few years ago who struggled when he transfered because of that reason.

Re: Utica College Pioneers 2011-2012

So inconsistant, Will the real UC team please stand up, I don't know what to think of this team. Top 10 and won't make the NCAA's, just not right.

Shabby, you hit it right on the head. Lots of talent but they can't seem to bear down when they need to. Time's running out for a home game in the playoffs and if they have to beat Elmira on the road to do it, they're toast. Being home next weekend they can put some pressure on with a sweep. Seems like a tall order this year against league compitition. Great win for Gate last night. To bad they couldn't get the win Friday, or at least a tie. Been voting for Austin ever chance I get. 30 goals!!! Later.

Re: Utica College Pioneers 2011-2012

Just a thought....if Utica played more away games maybe they would be in better shape come the big stage?

Well playing at the Aud alot of the time gets us our win... it's a mental thing with us.

Totally agree with you though.

We get it. Utica doesn't play enough away games. The ECAC-W doesn't play anyone out of conference but the worst teams in the SUNYAC and ECAC-NE. You've been making the same point incessantly for years. Any reason behind the obsession?

Just to give you something more to whine about.....
