Utica College hockey. ..Can we catch a break this season?

With the two coaches gone at King’s and Chatham who had terrible startups for their institutions do King’s and Chatham even have a chance to be competitive next year and not be walkovers for rankings?

No wonder they named the Square after him.

Perhaps you missed something, or maybe you took a BR break, but Baggs was easily the difference in the 2nd, when Heehan (apparently) went into his shell.

That game was an upset waiting to happen, but Baggs shut the door.

I saw all 60 mins. Baggs deserved the shutout but only really saw 2-3 grade A’s. Utica got up 3-0 and packed it in. Cant blame them

I thought that Baggs made at least 3 amazing game-changing saves in the 2nd, but that's just MO.

(He did, though.)

They'll likely suck next year, and for years to come.

The whole deal was designed to have enough warm bodies in the UCHC to "qualify" for an AQ, last I checked.

Having X numbers of teams will qualify a conference, as moronic as that concept truly is.

I'm sure King's and Chatham are fielding teams just so Utica can have a AQ. Makes a ton of sense for their institutions.... As for "sucking" for "years to come", I wasn't sure Wilkes or Stevenson would be able to make it work either and they've been pleasant surprises. I'll be surprised if Chatham becomes really competitive, but it won't surprise me if Kings gets better over the years....

Good effort tonight, not great. By great I mean let's just do as much as we need to do to win and move on. Baggs had some 10 bell saves, the breakaway and the post to post save on a WIDE OPEN net. Really thought the Cavenaugh, Kjellquist, Ott line was going to get two or three tonight. They were buzzing all night. Zapps between the legs PP goal was insane. Let's put this to bed early and get out of dodge tonight.

He was the #1 star by far. That game went from UC being in control and out shooting Wilkes by 2 to one, to a game where the shots were even that could have gone either way with 1 goal from Wilkes. The fact that Baggs didn't get first star is unbelievable. The saves he made were not you shot from the point see it all the way type. The 2 on 1, the deflection, the break away, and the point shots when he was screened were far from average saves. Heehan called the timeout in the second with Utica up 3-0, and Wilkes controlled most of the rest of the period, except for Baggs. If Heehan decides to take the teams collective foot of the gas tonight, it may be a long night. Let them play their game and I don't think they'll have any problems with the speed they have and Baggs in goal.

Agree completely. If not for Baggs' heroics, that game would've been a nail-biter, or even a loss.

Wilkes' top line is terrific, and it was double-shifted half the night. Can't sleep on this team.

Fish, it looks like your boys from UC are clicking on all cylinders. Rooting for a NYS school to win it all. Could we get three NY schools to Buffalo? I'm not a bracket expert.

Always fun to have local teams in the mix. If Utica falters, I'm all-in on Genny/Hobart.
