the poll is about how the teams look right now, based on what they have done (with a little what they might do)
how anybody could rate Mercyhurst over OSU after the past two weekends .... what a bunch of chum!

Other than the pre-season versions, I thought polls rankings were more based on past performance/recent results.

I think it means whatever it means in the mind of the individual voter. Some are predicting how they think it will end up, while others give more weight to what teams have demonstrated to date. Each places varying importance on factors like games missed to injury and other extenuating factors.

That is why it is hard to say that any given voter is right or wrong, unless you know what criteria that voter was considering. For example, I've always felt that if the defending champion returns some semblance of the same team and there is no clear "better" team, it deserves to stay at No. 1 as long as it keeps winning. Others don't share that opinion. Neither view is right nor wrong.

I don't see it happening this year for BU. Missing Doyle on D is a huge loss. I know they still have Lefort, Tutino, and Warren up front but they lost so much offense from last season with Kohanchuk and Menard graduating and Marie-Philip Poulin playing for Team Canada in this Olympic year. Three of the top D from last season are gone too if Doyle is out for the entire season.

I do have a question. Why the huge love for Clarkson?

Ready for this one Grant? How about BC?

Returning players for Clarkson, goalie 1.73GA, .931 save percentage, 2 top returning skaters, 22-30-52 and 17-24-41.
Returning players for BostonC, goalie 1.83GA, .927 save percentage, 2 top returning skaters, 24-29-53 and 13-19-32.

I clearly have no idea.

For now I'll go with Rutter. At this point in the season it seems to me that Rutter is still too dependent on last year's results to provide a realistic view of THIS year, but on the other hand, guessing is just guessing and at least the Rutter guessing is based on some math and formulas and stuff instead of just what I hope will happen.

Sorry could you clarify (serious question, not being funny) -- Was that "Why the huge love for Clarkson, and for that matter, BC?" Or, "Why the huge love for Clarkson? And man how about them Eagles!"

Having trouble getting the message conveyed in the typing.

As for the huge love for Clarkson -- they are the best team not to lose anyone to the Olympics, and if memory serves, were pretty damn good last year.
