Re: USCHO Music Thread: Less Talk, More Rock

I switched to Sara Bareilles for a little bit.

I know in September, these lazy days will go bye bye, so I'm enjoying them now.

Sonic Youth - Sugar Kane
Soul Asylum - Cartoon
The Pixies - U-Mass
Garbage - Why Do You Love Me.

I still argue Bleed Like Me is their best album - even better than their eponymous release. And this comes from someone that spent an entire day driving around nearly the entirety of Bahrain looking for a record shop that had the CD after my then girlfriend (and future wife) stole my copy and brought it with her on a several day work trip! But I listen to BLM far more often than any other Garbage album.

At 10pm Central, streaming "highlights" (I guess) of Gogol Bordello concert on MN Public Radio. I saw the live-stream, it was a great show. (this is video, not just audio)

And ODB as a single artist as well.

As single artists, all of them, really. It'll never be done again. They broke the system in that regard. (watch Hip Hop Evolution on Netflix if you can, they have a segment on Wu Tang that is awesome).

Virgo by Atmosphere is a masterpiece of a song, btw. So many choice lyrics. Mpls rapper, been around for 20+ years....how he didn't make it truly big time is beyond me.

If you haven't, watch this. It's brilliant, intense, and really moving. And I learned about a thousand things I didn't know before.

They are all great artists. For whatever reason ODB just really penetrates. I think it's because he was so f-cked up and a lot of what he was doing was not under his control, and his rage and humor are so raw and unhappy. That dude was a tire with no rubber left; he was feeling every jolt right through to his teeth.

I have seen that. For hip hop, also see: Sample This.
The most genius break-beat ever.

After brunch Sunday morning, I'm home, listening to more Wu-Tang Clan.

On my workout mix on Spotify, I have a few Wu-Tang songs on my list, including Triumph, C.R.E.A.M., Protect Ya Neck, Nothing To F Wit, and Gravel Pit. Wonder what other songs would fit in there.
