Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Best album title?

My vote goes to God's Balls by the biggest Sub Pop band that everyone forgot about - TAD.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Best album title is The Meatmen: We're The Meatmen and You Suck.

Features that immortal classic tune, Toolin' for Anus.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Drove home from work tonight with "Green" by R.E.M. in the CD player. "Orange Crush and "Turn You Inside Out" are excellent driving songs. Good reminder that summer is here.

Lifes Rich Pageant was always their summer album for me.

Best album title?

It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back or Fear of a Black Planet

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables or Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death

Give 'Em Enough Rope

Are We Not Men? We are Devo!

Fear of Music

Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent

The Man Who Sold the World

Rust Never Sleeps

Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

I like that REM actually titled an album, "Eponymous"

It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Viva Hate
Machine Gun Etiquette
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
The Uplift Mofo Party Plan or Blood Sugar Sex Magick
Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death
A Night at the Opera
A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Sticky Fingers
Automatic for the People
Fear of a Black Planet

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Queers: Love Songs For The Retarded
Smashing Pumpkins: Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness

I agree on the Public Enemy titles.

Automatic is a "summer" album too.

Also... last year, as all of you know, I attempted to run a 50 mile race, and had to stop at mile 30. On the way home, I sat and listened to "Find The River" for the entire 80 mile drive. That song is good for sitting and reflecting.

Men at Work

First two albums.

They hold up.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Feeling like Split Enz might be up next if I follow the rabbit hole to the South Pacific.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

"How Can I Resist Her" is a seriously underrated teen frustration song.

The Enz and most of Neil Finn's projects are held in very high esteem by me.

Of course, Tim sings on that one.

So yeah...

Time and Tide

Warren G- "Regulate"

I get out of work at 11:30-midnight, and I love hearing "it was a clear black night, a clear white moon..." as I'm going home.

Possibly the greatest night driving song of all time. And I defy anyone to not sing along to "... the Eastside Motel."

Sorry, but I just don't "get" rap. There's a few tracks - Grandmaster, Public Enemy, NWA, etc. - that I'm down with, along with rap-rock like RHCP, but otherwise I'm cold...

I "get" rap's political and socioeconomic origins to the point that a white boy can, after that I'm lost.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Taylor Swift has been back on Spotify for a few weeks.

Sorry, not sorry.

For me, and not talking about the socio-political rap, it's about the flow. Can you "bounce" or "head-bob" to it with ease. Get in that groove. One of my faves is 50 Cent "Just A Lil Bit." Total party song, but it's so smooth.
