Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Dead Milkmen- "Instant Club Hit (You'll Dance to Anything)"

I have "B-tching Camaro," "Punk Rock Girl," and the above, and I like what I've heard.

Their album Beelzebubba is a fave of mine. "Stuart" is a classic nutzo "song." :D

The ones in red were links. Seriously you should listen to the George Michael cover of True Faith. It's hideous. :)

The others:

Behind Blue Eyes

Boots are made for Walking

Imagine

I Love Rock and Roll

My Generation

Another Brick in the Wall - this one truly offended me

Faith - this one is complete garbage

Kiss

Given your fondness for Jett I thought you'd find that one particularly hideous.
You weren't kidding about True Faith.

Was in a bar in Cross Lake, MN and heard a cover I hadn't heard before. Disturbed's version of The Sound of Silence I actually thought was good.

It's played constantly on the hard rock station in the Mpls/StP area. I hate it. The over-vocalization in parts drive me nuts. Love the concept, hate the execution.

Nirvana - and **** they're powerful as a 4-piece pre-Grohl - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LduGiD93p-U

I wish I'd have seen them at the Unicorn in Milwaukee in 89, would have been this line-up and maybe 15 people in attendance

Nirvana accidentally did Drop-C tuning ("Blew" was supposed to be in Drop-D, and Kurt forgot he'd already tuned his guitar down) before it got ridiculously overdone.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Dethklok- The Dethalbum
The National- Boxer
Motion City Soundtrack- Even If It Kills Me
Arcade Fire- The Suburbs

Someone asked what "Reflektor" was like from Arcade Fire? More of "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)," less songs like "In The Backseat" and "No Cars Go."

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Can somebody explain The Tragically Hip?

I know a bit (from following TSN guys on twitter), but why would they cause Canada to shut down?

As far as I can tell, it's a huge cult following, and one of the few Canadian acts that actually have talent (although I am not familiar with anything they've ever done; I've just heard about them). And the lead singer has brain cancer or something like that, so the sympathy thing is strong.

I am familiar with some of their work. I learned about them in the TRP thread, and proceeded to download some songs. Of the songs I do have, this is probably my favorite: "Courage"

There's a very funny reference to this in the Sub Pop documentary Hype!: See 22:00

Not a song but music-related. Some of these are great.

And for that matter I'm listening to Tunic right now and wondering, as always, how banging brilliant beautiful these guys were/are.

Ben Folds: "Rockin The Suburbs"

My 35th birthday is less than a month away, and "Still Fighting It" is hitting hard right now.

I own that doc, and have probably watched it a dozen times. The TAD song that briefly plays in that segment is one of my favorite songs they did. It's called "Helot".
