Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Sinatra is so fricking overrated the concept he's adored almost makes me want to listen to Coldplay 24-7.

And lest anyone confuse me for someone that only listens to music recorded 1960+ just don't.

But when he was on, god d-mn.

That song is heartbreak -- the pain and also the awful comedy. It's this:

Ilsa: I didn't count the days.

Rick: Well, I did. Every one of them. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look on his face because his insides have been kicked out.

Every person who has ever had their heart broken can curl up inside that song and just hurt.

He was far from the greatest, don't get me wrong. But his stuff just always seems to be okay for whatever mood you're in. It's always about a 6-8 on the 1-10 scale for me. Nothing ZOMG, but far from dreck. Just solid offerings through and through.

I don't know. When you couple a voice that's about as pure as you can get with a talent for phrasing the lyrics around the music, pretty hard to top.

So Barry Manilow came out of the closet at 73 years old.

1. Good for him. As long as he's happy.
2. I don't even know why this is news.

To be honest I never thought it was obvious that he was and therefore never gave it any thought.

I thought it was obvious, but never really cared. Sure, go be gay. So be it. Have fun. *shrug*
