I see you are in a 70s mood.

Re: American Beauty

The Dead opened the Chicago run with Box of Rain, which was the second encore of their last show there in 95. Nice touch and I got it right away. "Such a long long..."

Only Dead studio album I can listen to, along with Workingman's.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Gurt, did they play Fire on the Mountain? I know there are one hundred songs I could name, but I always had a soft spot for that live. For those that I'm not sure if I ever saw them perform there's Row Jimmy.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I only went to the first night and we got Passenger, crazy fingers, playin', music never stopped, scarlet/fire, help/slip/franklins and ripple for the encore amongst a few others.

We did very well. :)

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Oh yeah and wheel, jack straw, Bertha and let it grow.

Yep. Happy with my show.

American Beauty is one hell of an album.

Wow, that, Franklin and Ripple?

My favorite music memory is still 89 Alpine Valley despite all the rain. Saw all 3 shows and 2 and 3 were god**** legendary. Although I have to admit getting squirted with liquid by the big dead tree near the golf course the 2nd night didn't hurt.

Tremonti - Cauterize

His sophomore solo album. He plays pretty d*mn well when he isn't vomiting up Creed's hits to make his house payments.

Alpine 89 is legendary. I assume you know that they put out a DVDs from that run?

Great shows and a great DVD.

Sitting in a parking lot at the van between lacrosse games listening to a spring 90 Nassau show.

Wish there was some vending like last week... :(

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Gurt, wasn't it you talking about transferring music?

You ain't kidding. This takes FOREVER. Transferring about 5K songs to MP3 player. Hour into it, and only on the M's.

That seems excessively long.

I was talking about backing up a hard drive.

Congrats on the iPod... er... mp3 player.

Welcome to 2002.

:D

Yeah, I know, I know (2002). Always had a myriad of MP3 discs, depending on my mood. I was doing other things on the interwebs, so I'm sure that slowed it down, but still. Anyway, it's finished. And it's glorious.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Florence + The Machine: How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful deluxe edition
Interpol: El Pintor

Both recent pickups from Amazon.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Grateful Dead 7/5/15 Soldier Field

Audio Rip from the webcast/ppv.

Yep... still bingeing.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Traffic - On The Road.

As a big Grateful Dead I was never all that much in favor of the Steve Winwood years., but I really enjoy his time with the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and the one Blind Faith release.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I delved into the cheesier parts of my collection and pulled out Eric Carmen.

"When I was young... I never needed anyone... and making love was just for fun... those days are gone."

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

So... another in the parade of aging classic artists is coming around and charging a ton for tickets.

Apparently, next spring, David Gilmour will do 4 shows in North America. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

I secured my seats for Chicago through my radio rep today via a LiveNation client pre-sale. Had to pay for them, but don't have to sweat it out tomorrow.

Haven't seen David since 94 on the Division Bell tour which is probably still the best concert I've ever been to.

I'd say I can't wait, but it's like over 9 months away. An awful lot will happen between now and then...

Hank III "Straight To Hell" is an album that kicks all sorts of arse. Might have to check out his other stuff.

Also, picked up Godsmack's Greatest Hits. Prob will get their new one, as both singles were very awesome.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Mad Season - "Long Gone Day" ---> Godsmack - "Voodoo"

It's not quite the same song, but it's hardly a coincidence. IMHO, Sully Erna took that chord structure, massaged it to get the hooks that made it a hit, and added the AIC dual-vocal harmony for polish.
