Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

so i'm backing up my itunes hard drive onto a separate/second drive as i almost thought i lost it and the drive that i was using as a backup isn't big enough as it's also backing up my photos and work stuff.

I grabbed the letter a through the letter p and it's over 70,000 items, 900 gb and will take 16 hours.

jfc.

Luckily, my vice/obsession is music and not crack or porn...

Currently stuck in my head: "Carry the Zero" - Built To Spill

Specifically the coda.

Strange to find your post on top, EODS. I searched for this thread because I have Lay Lady Lay stuck in my head this morning. Often try to get those stuck songs out, but it's good this morning for some reason.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

U2 Tour opens tonight in Vancouver.

Apparently, it will be broadcast.

I'll be at hockey, but at least I'll end up with a great recording of it.

In honor, listening to 3/6/81 from Boston. Wonderful radio broadcast.

This is a digital copy, but actually had this on a vinyl bootleg back in the day and was one of the first shows I owned.

Boy Tour and they ran out of songs, so while opening with The Ocean>11 O'Clock Tick Tock, they closed with 11 O'Clock Tick Tock>The Ocean. :)

Have a feeling that U2 will be heavy in the rotation for a while as I gather shows from the new tour and listen to old leading up to the shows I'm seeing at the end of June.

An Cat Dubh is so money...

Edge just tortures that riff... in a great way. :)

;)

Believe it or not I actually had a desire to re-visit mid-period Rush recently and went through bits of Hold Your Fire/Presto and Roll The Bones...AND...they're still as mediocre as I remembered them being. Which makes Vapor Trails/Snakes and Arrows and Clockwork Angels stand out that much further as late period classics

Sounds like their current tour is pretty cool with them going "back in time" as the night progresses from the stage setup to the way the music is played.

Start the show with washing machines etc on stage, progress to lasers...

Apparently end the show with songs off the first couple albums on a stripped down stage.

Wonder if they both rock the double neck guitars and if Geddy plays the old organ/keyboard thingy.

Yikes - wonder if they sport the feathered hair and the lame-*** bass Geddy had during the later 80s.

Wish is was closer than Chicago. :(

Nobody's disucssing last night's winner for American Idol, you konw, what's-his-face? What sort of music thread is this?

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

So I'm by the bonfire enjoying some cocktails and watching a U2 show (on my laptop) that is going on right now on something called Periscope - a phone app that allows you to broadcast to the world whatever you are recording on your phone. In real time.

The kids think nothing of this, but as I stop to contemplate it and remember 1987 when I saw my first U2 show and how much has changed in how we consume this stuff since then...

I'm amazed.
