Ride are still together? Couldn't really get into the one album of theirs I bought, but Vapor Trail, the reason I bought it, is just a fantastic single.

Love Ride although they were hit or miss for me. Going Blank Again is my favorite.

I like Nowhere a bit more than Going Blank Again, but you really can't go wrong w/either imo. Leave Them All Behind might be my favorite Ride song

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Figured I'd rope you with that one. :)

Actually doing 2112 now.

;)

Believe it or not I actually had a desire to re-visit mid-period Rush recently and went through bits of Hold Your Fire/Presto and Roll The Bones...AND...they're still as mediocre as I remembered them being. Which makes Vapor Trails/Snakes and Arrows and Clockwork Angels stand out that much further as late period classics

Orff: Carmina Burana
"O Fortuna,
velut Luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem;
egestatem,
potestatem,
dissolvit ut glaciem.

Sors immanis
et inanis,
rota tu volubilis,
status malus,
vana salus
semper dissolubilis;
obumbrata
et velata
mihi quoque niteris;
nunc per ludum
dorsum nudum
fero tui sceleris.

Sors salutis
et virtutis
mihi nunc contraria;
est affectus
et defectus
semper in angaria.
hac in hora
sine mora
cordae pulsum tangite!
quod per sortem
sternit fortem,
mecum omnes plangite!"

Guns N Roses: Appetite for Destruction

I'm kind of embarrassed to say I've never heard this album before...

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Less, although part of that is a function of starting a business from the ground floor thereby having very little time to spend on it. There is a local video channel Myx that will play local music. Some of it is quite good but if the band doesn't sing in English I tend to stay away. There are some alt acts worth listening to, but too much scream rock for my liking. There's a chance I could move closer to Manila (current 90 minutes away in good traffic) which would provide an opportunity to see live acts.

I will be seeing Incubus tonight and I have a ticket for CSN. Neither of which of course fits as new or local. ;)

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Saw Incubus last night which was my first concert in a foreign country since Live 8. Not sure what I expected but it was not really any different than a show you'd see back home. For a band that's been around since 1999, there were plenty of fans my age and it's nice to see that either their original material or newer releases still resonate with the younger set because the at least 50% appeared to be 30 or younger.

They were very lively, into the show most of the night. Very light obligatory interaction with the crowd, but Brandon Boyd wasn't standoffish at all. Apparently this is their 4th time here in Manila so they must have known what to expect. It was a very good night.

Looking forward to seeing CSN, wish I had made the trek to see Chvrches which were here not long ago.

If only the Foos would make it here...

Based on a recommendation in this thread, I decided to buy "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" by M83.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Earlier, was listening to Fountains of Wayne. Had never checked them out beyond knowing their song "Stacy's Mom."

There are actually quite a few really good songs on the two albums that I have - Sky Full of Holes & Welcome Interstate Managers. Songs that are nothing like "Stacy's Mom."

Good stuff and warrants further and deeper exploration.

Now listening to Bob Marley.

9 studio albums on shuffle.

Really sick of hit "hits"...

...the stuff that's on Legend, an album that every asshat in college and at a tailgate has and plays.

Enjoy his lesser known stuff a whole lot more.
