Unknown may have been strong, but getting played on 120 Minutes didn't exactly make them mainstream and they sadly were cut short when the lead singer died. Plus there are plenty of whippersnappers on these here forumajiggers.

Morphine doesn't really fit into the typical 120 minutes group either.

I can't think of anyone else who sounds anything like them. From the haunting quality of Sandman's voice and his use of his custom bass/guitar crossover thingy to the prevalence of a sax in an "alternative" band - definitely a unique sound.

Totally spaced trying to get tickets today for the second U2 show that I wanted to go to.

Yeah! The secondary market for U2 tickets...

At least I have one at face.

Was thrilled that they finally released the (almost) full show. It's funny that they cut Electric Co. in that way as the VHS has the full version and there are countless other song snippets that they would need to pay royalties for in some of their other official live releases. Bad from Rattle & Hum probably has 4 all by itself - Ruby Tuesday, Sympathy, etc...

I wonder if it's something other than royalties.

In other news, 2 additional shows have been announced for Chicago, so I get another chance at scoring tickets to a second show.

got my stereo yesterday (incredibly fast shipping). but my Ipod classic (4th gen) doesn't work with it, via the dock or the USB port. Sent an email to Yamaha - we'll see what they say. The manual states it is compatible with the classic, but it does say you need a dock adapter (the stupid little piece of plastic to seat it - even though it has the right number of pins). I can find them on ebay, if needed - not sure if that's the problem, but then that doesn't explain why the USB doesn't work, either.

However, I also discovered I have just enough room on my nano to store my whole library, and it DOES work with that (via USB anyway - have to get a lightning-to-30 pin connector for the dock). I can also transfer my stuff to a flash drive, and that should work.

sound is pretty good, though, and the radio reception is great.

Got my tix for a second U2 show through today's pre sale.

Going to the first Chicago show and the last - six days apart. Get to see them blow into town and blow out. Hopefully the two best shows of the run.

Have my radio reps working on comp tix, so maybe I get to even more than just the two.

In your opinion, now that it's Christmas season, what do you think is the worst Christmas/holiday song ever recorded? For me, it's a toss up between "Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney and "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. And "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band-Aid ranks just behind them.

Sorry, the one Taco Johns uses is worse.

A local mall here near Manila has a Christmas song that includes the following chorus: "CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS, SHOPPING, SHOPPING, SHOPPING!".

Have my entire Beastie Boys catalog on shuffle right now.

Introduced some of my employees this afternoon at a pool party to 80s and 90s alternative rock. You can't karaoke (which is absolutely massive here for whatever reason) to much of it but they were actually pretty impressed.

I like the McCartney song. And the Band-Aid song.

And Gurt's right, I used to love the Lennon song, but it came on the radio today, and I changed the dial. Just heard it too many times. But the other station was playing Hysteria, so i had to change it back.
