Just picked new albums by...

Iration - Automatic

Meh. Almost R&B. Not very good.

John Brown's Body - Kings & Queens

Really like this and listened to it twice in the car yesterday. Probably my favorite (true/roots) reggae band these days.

Now listening to Three Legged Fox - Always Anyways

Back up your files!

After a couple years of winging it, I finally backed up my files. Part of it was prudence, the other part was that my 1tb drive was nearly full and I wanted to go to a 2tb.

Well, I got everything copied except for about 10 folders in Y and Z and the old drive died. Nada, nothing, zilch. Dead.

I lost a couple of Yes titles and the Zombies. Luckily I still have most of those on CD (haven't sold them yet).

I would have been devastated. Seriously.

Back up your files!
All of my music is on my 500GB external hard drive. I also need to get rid of iTunes; I tried to import all my music files into iTunes and my computer's tiny hard drive can't support it.

Unless I can move iTunes, music files and all, onto the external...

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I was at the Black Crowes concert Saturday night. The Crowes were great, I only heard one missed note the whole night from Rich Robinson, but the guy working the soundboard should be kicked in the 'nads. About halfway through the concert Chris Robinson's voice was completely drowned out by the instruments. All the instruments became louder and louder, but the vocals level never once changed.

Well, as long as you don't move the files onto the hard drive, you should be fine.

My files are all housed on the external which I leave hooked up to the pc and have iTunes directed towards.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I moved all my music from the hard drive to an external about a year ago. I actually had to do some tinkering to get iTunes to recognize the new location (it wasn't hard, but I might classify it as a 'jerry-rig') but it worked once done and all new music DL's seamlessly to the external without extra tinkering.

Brought home from the library today:

The Roots - Undun
Best Coast - The Only Place
White Denim - D
Portugal - Evil Friends

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I buy all my music from Amazon, and store it all on Amazon Cloud. No need to back it up.

I do the same, mostly, but I'm running out of cloud space on Amazon. I might have to pay for the expanded version. Anything that's not purchased through Amazon MP3 is an actual CD that I've ripped to my PC, so I have a physical data backup there.

I thought that if you bought the music from Amazon they didn't count it towards your space used.
I'm pretty sure that my total space used is 0GB because all my music on my cloud is purchased from Amazon.

When you get the chance, go to your amazon account, look at your mp3 cloud drive. You'll see that you have X songs saved there, with room for Y remaining. The Y figure is an estimate, of course. I'm down to 150 songs remaining for free storage, according to Amazon. At that point I'd have to purchase more space. I've not looked into the cloud costs as I'm debating whether or not I want to just use an external drive for backup instead. There's something comforting in keeping a physical drive.

This.

I just like to possess the files for some odd reason.
